How Do You Hook The Wireless Internet Up?

I just bought a computer off of ebay that came with the wireless interent card and disk. I put the card in and installed the cd but it is not bringing up the internet. I am a big dunce when it comes this . I sat there for 2 hours trying to figure it out and couldn't. What am I not doing? I have 7 days from today to send it back if I don't want it with a 25% restocking fee. I need the internet to work so I can be on this site while my kids at work (I work at a daycare) are asleep

Even w/ the wireless card you must have a wireless router unless there is a Wireless Access Point within range. You can get a good one @ Sams for about $50.
