How do you highlight

embossing to make it stand out?

I got a quickutz embossing template of Christmas words, so we decided to make our own Christmas cards. But the words don't show up quite as well as we might like, so I could use your suggestions.

If you use a different colored core cardstock you can sand it, you can also ink your template(this may stain the template in that color) and it will give your words that color, sometimes I run an ink pad over the embossing to highjlight it, you could rub chalk or pastels over it just like an ink pad.

Get some of the Core'dinations paper from Joann's and sand the embossed part a bit. They come in a bunch of different colors and each has a different core.

do you sand it after you emboss it? If it is after, does it push it back down some?

If you use a very light hand and the finest sand paper, it should just take off the top layer so you can see the color underneath.

I didn't see it at J, I saw it at the LSS on the Cape. Looks like a road trip is in order!!!

Thanks gang. We tried a few methods, including inking with a brayer, inking with a pad, chalking, sanding. Even with a shim under part of it, the lettering didn't come out clear on the fuzzy part. Then, I broke the embossing template. Chucked it in the trash.

Found the linoleum block dh had carved when we were first married, the second time. He wants to use that. OK, then. Oddly enough, if I ink that, and lay it face up with the paper on top of it, it rolls through the revolution just fine, and I get a nice clear print. So, I guess that's the method of choice this year. Thanks again.
