How do you handle the suspense?!

Just had a resale offer accepted late Wednesday for our first set of DVC points at SSR and I am already dying from the suspense of ROFR and the anticipation of possibly becoming a DVC member in 1 to 2 months!

So, for those of you that have been through this before, does the waiting get any better??? Any coping suggestions??? :)

I am starting to realize what a benefit the instant gratification is when you purchase from Disney, but I keep reminding myself of all the money we will be saving.

I agree it is very difficult to wait:rotfl: I have to remind myself that there are other contracts (if this one would not pass);). Our first resale was the same way it wasn't until I started calling once a week to find out where we were that I felt better.

I obsessively checked the ROFR thread and continued looking at resale listings for back up ones...and I was on DIS all the time! Good luck :goodvibes

You avoid the suspense by making a sensible offer in the first place.

I can't tell you how many contracts I've seen people lose over $200 in the last five years. I watched one person lose three deals in a row before they finally wised up!

Sometimes people get so fixated on getting the maximum "deal" that they lose sight of the objective -- which is to become a member.

And the other thing to keep in mind is that this is only going to be a short period of uncertainty. After that, you'll have many years of DVC bliss.

I'm in the middle of that process now. My offer was submitted for ROFR review on 7/12. The waiting has been brutal!!! I have this suspicion that the ROFR decision maker at DVC decided on my case on 7/13 and then put it in the "make them wait and suffer" stack for release in 4 weeks. It's a scheme to get you to buy direct from DVC ;)

The good news for buyers seems to be that Disney is passing on ROFR a lot these days. (Not like the "old time" days when you really had to bite your knuckles!):lmao:

So in your expertise what is a sensible offer?

I hear ya! We just returned our paperwork and were told that the contract was sent to Disney for ROFR yesterday and I was good with that. I wasn't worried about the offer, I think it will pass, felt pretty relaxed about the whole thing, but...that was yesterday! Today I want it to hurry up already! I think I would be okay if I just got an email from the Timeshare Store on a daily basis just so I know that they haven't forgotten me. Guess that's a lot to ask though! I know, I know, it will all be fine in a short time...and I'm not in a hurry to write the final check anyway! But...I agree, waiting is hard! ;)

I'd check with the resale agent. The agent would probably have a better idea because they see a fuller picture than what is shown on the ROFR thread.

I'd just be sure to pay enough to pass ROFR. In terms of your overall cost of ownership over the years, $200-300 doesn't really mean much.

When we bought a SSR resale contract this year, I kept spending my time here looking at posts and planning future trips. We did pass, but I still manage to spend too much time here!:rotfl:I'm sure you will pass. We listened to ****'s advice about what to offer, and although I was still nervous, everything went without a hitch. Good luck!:goodvibes

I share your pain......... and I'm not handling it very well either. :sad2:

Ours was sent to ROFR on July 26th and I've been on edge ever since. We are paying the asking price and my TSS salesman is confident it will pass.... but who knows. :confused3

My problem is we are already planning a trip in January and would like to use the banked 2009 points then. We have to book airfare and I don't dare make any firm reservations until we hear we've passed and what is available in a studio in case we have to change our dates slightly.

Good luck.... we'll squirm together for a few days..... err weeks. ;)

nope!! LOL
no sugggestions, just hang in there. You could mentally plan a trip to pass the time!

I'm also feeling your pain. My purchase was just submitted on July 29th(YES, 2 DAYS AGO!!!) and the suspense is killing me.

Agent said there should be no problem with ROFR but that isn't making the stress go away!!!!!!!!!!

Hope to be a first time DVC'er soon!!!!!!!

Although we are DVC members at OKW we decided to buy resale after meeting our rep this week, but didnt want to pay the inflated prices Disney wanted.

Were in the same position we agreed the sellers asking price althought they were to meet the closing costs, this was accepted by the seller, signed forms last night and returned, so just waiting in the best place as we are currently on holiday in the place were dreams are made.

Glad to hear that I am not alone right now! I'm not too worried about Disney executing ROFR, but I just can't imagine waiting another 7 weeks to begin spending my points and enjoying all the DVC benefits without going crazy!

I did get an email today from The Timeshare Store stating that it had officially been submitted for ROFR today, so that's nice that it appears they will be providing nuggets of information along the way to keep me from thinking that nothing is happening. :)

Best of luck to all of those that are coping through this process with me!
