How do you guys like Animal Kingdom?

AK also gets 2 days from me as well. I love it as my first day at WDW and also schedule it for one of my last vacation days. I rope drop & hit the attractions I want by late morning. I then can chill a bit in the afternoon, catch the shows and enjoy the incredible detailing. Its a great, easier first day to ease into my vacation and a solid, less manic day toward the end when I am getting tired. I love Yak & Yeti table service & I'm within striking distance of Sanaa & Boma. What's not to love? :flower:However, my gut tells me this touring style will come to an end in the next few yrs with the park's expansion. It will become more crowded. But its hard to complain about new attractions in WDW!

I would recommend listening to the podcast that the Dis Unplugged did on AK. Absolutely fantastic. We loved our visit there last year, and can't wait to do it again here in a few months. :simba:

Thanks for all of your advice. I'm typing this from AK, and I'm glad to say that I was wrong--I really like it here! It truly feels like I'm in an African town, with the great theming and sweltering Florida heat, lol. I don't regret this decision!

SO glad to hear it :-)

I don't feel we've given AK a fair shot because the day we went my son had hit a wall and was exhausted and it was August hot in the hottest park. Next trip we're gonna tackle it after a resort day.

The park needs to remove the animals and introduce more rides :rotfl:

I always find it really hot in Animal Kingdom too.

I'm so glad you gave it a try and that you're enjoying yourself! You never know what you'll like until you try it. If you can still fit in time to see Flights of Wonder, I highly recommend it!

We are not huge fans of the park. My son dislikes Everest and has never tried Dinosaur. The only real attraction for us is the Safari. The nature trails are really cool, but are tough on the feet. We tend to hit AK once every 2-3 years instead of every year like the rest of the parks. Perhaps once Avatarland opens it will become a yearly part of our trip, but we shall see.

I love AK. I always get there early in the morning and catch the safari without using a fastpass. The animals are out and about and you can get great photos. I love the Lion King Show, Flights of Wonder, and Nemo. I like to watch the tigers and gorillas as well.

We love it - when we first started going to WDW, we liked it but it was more of a half-day park for us. The more time we spend there the more we love it - now we do 1.5 to 2 days :)

AK is ok, but it's not exactly an action-packed park. The only things we really enjoy there are Everest, the Rapids, Dinosaur, and the Bugs Life 4D show. A lot of the vegetation throughout the AK is pretty natural. That being said, walking a lot of the park seems similar to walking the trails around our neighborhood since we live in FL, so I have a hard time really appreciating or enjoying the environment there. We generally only spend a half day at the AK.

I'd recommend taking a look at the list of attractions at the AK again and see if anything there really interests you. If you've never been, it could potentially be a nice experience. But, if you really enjoyed the MK and didn't get a chance to do a lot of the attractions in Tomorrowland or others, then it sounds like you'd enjoy heading back to the MK for another day.

I am so glad that you went and that you enjoyed it! AK is my fav next to MK, I think. I love the theming and all the attention to detail, like the leaf prints and tracks on the ground, the huge bamboo and other plants and vegetation...love FOTLK, I think it's my fav show in WDW. When I read your OP, I would have recommended that you skip it, glad you didn't.
