How do you get your groceries?

Groceries......how do you get 'em? Do you order from local grocer, ship, pack in luggage, etc. I've seen all of these suggested but I'd like to have the details (how, what, where, when, costs, etc). Or any other ideas as well of course.

Thanks so much for sharing! Planning for June 2017!!!

We've used Garden Grocer for close to 10 years. When we have a car, I head over to Publix, but I would rather not have to do grocery shopping on my Disney trips! Garden Grocer is very convenient, orders arrive on time and they have great customer service. They offer discounts if you order 15 days (5%), 30 days (7%) and 60 days (10%) in advance. Minimum order is $40; delivery fee is $14. Prices are a bit higher than I pay at home, but better than Disney's. They only deliver to Disney resorts (not the Swan and Dolphin, but they do deliver to the Wyndham resorts). They ask you to choose a 2-hour delivery window, but you don't need to be present when they deliver. I highly recommend them.

Amazon is another option that we haven't yet tried.

We have used all types of methods. We have driven our own car and gone to the store oursleves, we have had a Town Car transfer with a free 30 minute grocery stop and we now use DME and Garden Grocer to deliver to our resort.
Garden Grocer is a great service. There is a $40 minimum order, which we easily exceed on breakfast foods, water, soda, beer, wine and snacks only. Their delivery fee is $14 and we definitely save that over the cost of buying similar items in the resort stores.
They have a website and you shop "Virtual Aisles" and place your order. They deliver to Bell Services who store your order and refrigerate perishables until you call down and ask for it to be delivered to your room. I always tip Bell Services.
I have also used wegoshop in the past. I do NOT recommend them. They have horrible customer service.
Have Fun

I used to use Garden Grocer, but now with Uber being so popular, I tried it in August and it worked well. The one way trips only cost about $7 each, and that was to the Publix in Celebration, which was probably about 10 minutes away. We shopped in less than half and hour, and I don't recall how much we spent, but we just got various types of snacks and water bottles for the park. I just know that food prices in FL are more than they are here in NJ, so regardless, I always feel like we spend a ton. But that's really it--pretty simple!

Another vote for Garden Grocer. We've used them for our last 4 trips and have been very pleased with them. As a matter of fact, I already have our order started for our trip in Dec that I will finish this weekend so we can get the 10% discount for giving an order over 60 days. Also, the earlier you order, the better the time slots are for delivery. They send you a text and/or email when they have delivered the order so you know it's there. Bell Services at POP have delivered our goods to our room the past couple of times. We usually get breakfast foods, cases of water and snacks for the room.
Good luck!

When we have wanted groceries we used Garden Grocer. But after having so much crap left over we quit ordering at all.

We've driven our rental car to a local grocery store in the past, but now use Garden Grocer. As a pp mentioned, don't waste valuable WDW vacation time going to a grocery store!

Really depends on how long you are staying and how much stuff! For longer trips - we usually have a car and we just go ourselves. We like Publix because it's like the traditional grocery store chain we use at home. Target and Walmart just don't have the same selections we are used to.

For short trips in a regular hotel room - I just bring some stuff along in my suitcase - and maybe pick up something in my resort gift shop - like milk or coffee creamer. The one time I needed to swing by a DVC resort gift shop (I was at value) because I needed a couple of things my resort shop didn't have. Those resorts have a larger grocery section.

For short trips in a DVC room without a car - and planning to eat in some - I've ordered from a couple grocery services - both Garden Grocer and Kelly's PDS. I think the third one folks use and like is WeGoShop. But - they all have fees. So - you really need to ask yourself if it's enough stuff to make it worth it. If you do have a big order - they are reliable and folks are pleased with them. But for smaller orders/short stays - you really can end up with TOO much leftover food or feel like the mark-up was high due to fees/pricing.

We use Garden Grocer. We drive down to WDW, but we also don't want to waste any time grocery shopping on our vacation! We have never had any issues with them as well.

We have used WeGoShop a few different times, and we have always been happy with them. I apologize, as I can't remember the shopping fees we paid each time we used them. However, what I especially appreciated is that I could stipulate where I wanted them to shop from a lengthy list of options, or I could indicate that THEY pick where to shop. I found that they were especially careful to shop deals and use local grocery store flyers to get me the best deals on our grocery needs, which I really appreciated. Each time I placed an order, I placed the order online, but then as our arrival time to WDW approached, I got a call from someone at WeGoShop, and talked to a real person who asked questions and made sure they understood our needs.

Have a wonderful trip to WDW!!

Prime Now from Amazon is probably the best option cost wise, though I have found they do not have a great selection on meat. For meat, I have found if I deep freeze bacon and turkey sasauge, and then pack in my portable cooler with ice packs inside a checked bag, my food will stay frozen for at least 10-11 hours which is long enough for me to leave my house, fly to Orlando, check into my room and have my checked bag delivered to my room.

What do you do about this stuff sweating inside your luggage as it begins to thaw or does that happen? Do you wrap in plastic or something? I had thought of this but was afraid it would be a big mess by the time it made it!

Used prime now when we went in September. Everything was relatively cheap and no 15$ delivery fee like garden grocer!

We usually have a car rental but for our upcoming trip we won't so we'll be using Uber for the first time and heading to Publix.

Does anyone know if any of the grocery stores have curbside pickup? A lot of our stores here in Houston are starting it. I would love to not waste time shopping on vacation!

Another praise of Garden Grocer. Have used them every time we go to WDW, and they have been flawless.

We, like many others, use Garden Grocer and have done so for four trips now. It has a delivery fee, but we find them convenient and have learned how to order just enough to eat (and drink).

We like GG because they've always been on-time, they have a decent selection of food/drinks, they offer a discount if you order ahead of time, and they deliver beer/wine. We are usually a largish party of mostly adults, and we will have breakfast in our room, snacks in the late afternoon along with a cocktail maybe, and sometimes have late night snacks and a nightcap. GG isn't cheap, but having food, snacks, drinks in our room is much more cost effective than buying snacks and drinks at the resort, and much easier than bringing some items from home (like fruit and refrigerated items such as yogurt and milk).

We've learned over the years how to order just enough food and drink so as not to waste much if any. Like packing, we put together a list and then take some items off...and we've never gone hungry and usually don't throw away much at all. It's nice having yogurt and fresh fruit in the room in the morning, and hummus and crackers in the afternoon. When my kids (boys who always eat) were with me a few years ago, it was a lifesaver having bread and lunchmeat, chips, apples, etc. in the room for when they were hungry (which was constantly). We also bring stuff from home in our luggage to help cut the costs of the GG order. But since we're a large party and order together, we split any delivery costs which makes it really, really reasonable for us.

We have shipped down 2 boxes (water too). My husband was able to ship for really really really cheap and it only cost us...nothing. But I am not sure if he still has that option.

Next trip in 2018, we will see what his shipping status is or I will pack some food and I do like bagels anyways or we will order from some place or I might be lucky and my sister will drive up and she can either buy us stuff before she gets there or my dh and I can take her car.

The last option for our next trip is that we may go to the space center for a day and if we do we will have a rental and can go and get stuff, including shampoo and sunscreen so I would just need carry ons.

For standard room stays I bring a few non perishables (easy breakfast snacks and my coffee preference) in my suitcase and I buy milk at the resort as well as a gallon of Distilled water (for Cpap and for making coffee).

I use a refillable water bottle that I fill at the resort soda machine and carry around in my daypack and I bring my large Nalgene to keep in the room with water from the same source. Water and Ice do not require a chip to activate.

I used to bring more but most of it came back home with me. I'm usually happy with bread and pb or cereal in the mornings and by the time I get back to my room I just want to go to sleep.

I also will buy the occasional powerade or soda to keep in the room or popcorn/Goofy Candy/cookies from the resort or DTD. Not cheap but it's usually not very much so I splurge a little.

(I am a solo traveler most of the time but I do the same when I have someone with me and it works both ways)

Now if there are actual fridge/microwave/kitchen facilities then I usually have a car and then I just hit up Publix or Walmart. My friends used Uber in Orlando to do a grocery run and it worked out well.

I've never used a grocery service as I prefer to pick out my own items and I tend to browse and make up my mind on what's available/fresh/affordable.
