How do you get "un" banned?

VMK is not letting my d's on and it says they are banned. They don't know how that happened.

Does VMK let them back on after a period of time? Do you have to request to be put back on? Or how does this work?

Thanks,
DJ

YOu will need to go to the vmk home page and use the "contact us" feature at the bottom, identify yourself as a parent and ask how long the ban is for and what it was based on. If you have AOL or some other internet provider you might have to be sure your spam filter doesn't get rid of their answer - but they should answer you - within a few days - and tell you what happened.

Good luck.

A few months back I had this happen on a computer in my classroom with kids getting onto it after school during a Girl Scout meeting. I wrote to the "black hole" also know as the contact us button many, many times and no answer ever but I hope for you d that you have better luck than we did! We will all anxious awit to hear how you did and keep our fingers crossed for you

Hi DJ welcome to the VMK boards sorry it is under such circumstances though.

Did you use contact us? to see how long the ban is for?

Are both banned?Did it said why?

It didn't say. It just won't let them log on from our computers. None of them (they are all connected through the same wireless internet/cable connection).

My one d said she could log on at her friend's house.

When I went on our slowest computer a brief message came up saying our IP was banned. On our faster computer the message goes by so fast we couldn't read it.

They have no idea why this happened. They hardly went on during school, but with school out now they were looking forward to going on again.

Hopefully they let them back on soon. I can't imagine what happened. They have been members of VMK since it first started and have never had problems like this.

Under Contact Us....it should say why they were banned and for how long, that is where I would start.

Since your one daughter can log in from a friends I would say it is the other daughter who received the ban and with an IP ban it sounds like a permanent ban to me.

If so, after you find that out, I would then have your daughter write VMK via Contact Us to find out what exactly she did and when, since they will not share that info with you. So you will have to get it via her.

Do you have a static IP addy?

If they haven't played in awhile...are you sure their accounts are still active?

Whats the difference between a ban and an IP ban?

An IP ban means that no one can log in at all from that computer (or any computer that shares that IP address).

A character ban affects only that character, meaning that that character can't log in from any computer anywhere.

Although you can change your IP Address, but its illegal :P. Heh, lol.

I have a question too! Can you have two IP Addresses in one house? Or only ONE?

that way, if you get banned.. You can use the other

So this is ridiculous and just adds on to my frustrations with VMK. I bought some new alice items, there is a small patch of mushrooms you can buy. I had them in my room and my nephew came in. Well you cant say mushrooms, or mush, or mushroom at all on VMK. So hey walked over to it and asked me "where did you get the small thing?" and he was banned for saying small thing. This is really stupid.

They won't share the info on why they were banned with the parent? That's just asking for trouble...

And I think it can be anywhere from a month to permanantly for IP bans.

just curious how do you change your IP address??? I too didn't know that was possible

I believe that is what I said. :) Actually they should a minor is the parents responsibility but that is for another thread not this one.

There are many ways to change your IP some are easier than others, just google it.

If you have multiple computers in your house (as a lot of houses do these days) whether they are wireless or "hardwired" to the network, they all share the same IP address to the outside world. Verizon (or comcast or whoever) will assign one IP address to your cablemodem, DSL Modem, etc. Your network router will then assign each computer connected to it a separate IP addy for purposes of communicating on your home network.
Sometimes the "outside" IP address refreshes every so often, sometimes it's static (I don't know to much about it from that side). If you simply reset the modem (unplug it and plug it back in) that might give you a new address, not sure. You can always call your provider and ask them.

Wow, that's just sad...:sad2: Really hope you can get on, i mean, there's no reason to ban for describing something- especially if you can't say what it's called!!
