Hi
I'm trying to figure out how we are going to get to the airport at 0400!!! (our flight leaves at 0600!!!)

How do you get to the airport...

Limo will cost us $125
Towncar $75
Taxi ~$45
Drive and park ourselves $40 ($8/day)

What do you do???

We always drive ourselves to the airport and don't rely on others. This way if we can snag a standby flight or are delayed in any way, our car is at the airport waiting for us. In the mail, we get coupons at an offsite parking lot at DTW for a free day. We make use of those! During the summer, we fly almost every weekend for DCI shows, so parking out own car makes a lot of sense.

Your flight is leaving at 6:00am? I'd price a sleepnfly rate at an airport hotel.

If you post your airport someone might have some suggestions.

We live fairly close to the PHL airport and have done both drop-offs and/or parking at a nearby lot (not at the airport; too $$$!). We were lucky this time as DH has a pal who works security for a building near the airport and we were able to park securely for free and get dropped off and picked up. :thumbsup2

I'm flying from syracuse ny...sorry I should have posted that!

I don't know how far you are from the airport. You can try this site
http://www.parksleepfly.com/

as well as the hotels own websites. It looks like you can get a parknsleep rate for around $100. It might make sense if you have a long drive to the airport.

I would drive myself. I recently used Park N Fly near MSP and it was a wonderful experience. They were at my car to pick me up before I was even done unloading the luggage, they dropped us right at the terminal, and then they dropped us back at our car when we returned.

We also fly out of MSP and always drive ourselves. We love Park N Fly. These type of places have wonderful services.

we drive ourselves to the airport and park across paying 40 dollars for the week. We hop on the airport parking shuttle to get to our terminal.

We always take a cab and arrange for the same driver to pick us up on our return home. He tells us where to meet him and he's always waiting. It costs us about $45 each way. We fly out of Logan Airport in Boston and parking costs $22/day so we would never even consider that option. :sad2:

To answer the OP question, when I had a flight that early and the airport I was flying from was a more than a 60 minute drive from my house I used a fly n sleep package.

When I fly from an airport closer to my house I use discounted parking at the airport.

You want to get to the airport at 4:00a. What time will you have to wake up? Will you even bother going to sleep.

Check with your airline and find out what time the counters open; you may be getting there too early. At my home airport, you can't check bags before 4:30 am. (The main doors are open 24/7, but nothing else is, including the security lanes.)

I would just take a cab. That time of the morning it would only take me 15-25 minutes get from my house to LGA or JFK.

I've taken this flight before...we have to leave the house to be at the airport by 430...the lines at TSA are ridiculous to say the least at this hour...so yes we need to be there that early...

I think I'm going to splurge and get a limo.

We usually fly out of Madison, and leave our car. But, when we fly out of Milwaukee, like when we go to WDW in December, we do a park and fly.

For vacation we drive and park at a local Park n Fly. For about $25 (with coupon) for the week, I get parking and a car wash as well as my car is running for me when we arrive back at the office (very important in December when we usually go!)

Now when I travel on business, I park in short term and under cover! Obviously not me paying the bill :teeth:

Depends on which airport.

DCA I can get to on the Metro within an hour.
IAD I take a combination of Metro and Washington Flyer bus. The bus is $14 round trip. Takes about an hour if I have to spend time waiting for the train and bus.
BWI I take Metrorail and Metrobus express. Total of about $12 to $15 round trip but it takes me about 2.5 hours.
