We were talking with our neighbors the other day about skunks. Where they used to live they had skunk visitors. They also had grubs in their lawn really bad. What they found out was that the skunks were coming and feasting on the grubs. Once they treated for grubs the skunks moved on. No grubs - no food source - no skunks.
I just did a quick search and found a recipe for skunk spray stuff (or you could look at a farm or pet supply store for something similar). Anyhow, it's Dawn liquid detergent (8 oz.) as it breaks up the 8 oz. castor oil. Add that to a gallon of water and spray all around your porch and home. The reason this works is that, believe it or not, skunks hate things that stink.
Found this too:
Bounce Fabric Softener -- The scent in Bounce, oleander, is a natural repellent to animals. Hang a few fresh sheets of fabric softener around your yard to keep skunks away. Every couple of days, spray them with a water bottle to revive the scent.
Tabasco Sauce, Garlic Powder, and Corn Oil -- In a quart of water, mix together four tablespoons of Tabasco Sauce, four tablespoons of garlic powder and a half teaspoon of corn oil. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and squirt it around the perimeter of your yard or garden to repel skunks.
The only other ideas I read were calling a pest control company and having traps set.
Hope this helps some.
