How do you get rid of a cold in your ear?

I could tell the other day I was getting the symptoms of a cold...scratchy throat, achy, etc....but I never got a full blown cold, instead my right ear is now completely clogged.

Anyone know of any OTC nose spray or medicine one can take for a cold in your ear?

The only thing that works for me is Sudafed. And I only take one pill because two make me loopy. If you're going to take something make sure you get a decongestant.

I would also use a saline spray in your nose. That seems to really help our family. Hope you get to feeling better!!

I usually use Sudafed but if that does not clear it up you might make a trip to your doctor. A few years ago my ear clogged up like that after a small cold and the OTC medicine didn't seem to be working. It finally annoyed me so much I went in the doctor and I actually had an ear infection. I was shocked. My ear didn't hurt at all but after a round of antibiotics I could finally hear well again.

Sounds like you may have fluid in your middle ear. Try a decongestant/antihistamine like Dimatapp or Benedryl, this will help dry it up. If this doesn't help(may take several days or more) or if you develop pain or a discharge in your ear, see a doc.

I know this sounds crazy, but a few drops of olive oil in your ear will help. Also, this is even weirder, but, one of my BIL's employees had an ear infection, and asked for a cup of my sisters breastmilk because where he is from, that is what they use to cure ear infections - my sister gave it to him, and it worked!!

while your at it, put some Vicks salve on a cotton ball and stick it in your ear.
Old fashioned remedy, but really helps.
