How do you get from the park(s) to Portofino?

This is our first year to try Universal.

We have the Universal passes through Costco and I'm thinking that I would like to spend at least one pre-NYD day checking out the parks in order to ride "Jaws" before it closes on (I believe) Jan 2nd. We would probably come back after NYD to further explore. We have a coupon through restaurant.com for Bice.

I have a couple of questions for you Universal veterans. How do you get from the park(s) to Portofino? I am assuming they have some sort of transport like Disney. Am I mistaken? How long does the transport typically take during the holiday season?

Also: Bice, yea, nay, no way?

There are three ways you can get from the parks to Portofino. You can walk, take the boat or take a bus. The walk takes about 15 minutes, the boat about 5 and the bus as well. I suggest you take a look through the Portofino thread to find out all about it.

I should also have added a fourth way. There are pedi cabs that you can take too. They are basically rickshaws powered by bicycle and they run on tips---there is no flat fee.

Prefer the walk myself at least from the hotel to the parks. Depending on the tirdness state usually the boat back the resort in the evening.

Never used the bus but almost run over by the rickshaw people once or twice
