How do you get a pin?

What do I need to sign up for in order to get a pin code?

Everything remotely disney related. Then cross your fingers and wait for the seemingly unpredictably inconsistant code fairy to randomly darken your door. Some people who sign up for one thing or have signed up for nothing get pins. Some people who sign up for everything get no pin. Or vise versa. We used to think that the more you went the less likely they were to give you a pin since why bother giving someon who always comes anyway. However lots of people who go 2-3 times a year or more are reporting that they get pins frequently; while others who barely go never get one. It really seems very random. There is some thought that sometimes it is targeted marketing, sent to people by region. There is a bit of evidence that that is true but not in all cases.

I have never had one in my name. Yet I have received atleast three to my email in my moms name. And one in my brothers. I booked a trip for all of us 4 years ago in separate rooms in our own names.

My 9 year old niece received a PIN offer in the mail at my house over the weekend. I haven't received one since October.

She's been to Disney multiple times, but not on my reservation and she and her parents don't even live in the same town as us. We've never lived in the same household and she's never had a Disney reservation in her name.

We did all eat dinner together for a couple of meals last year at WDW, but the dinner reservations weren't in her name either.

I've given up on trying to figure out how to receive a PIN.

I received a Pin code via email 2 days ago and it is for free quick service dining when you purchase a 4 night stay most nights thru Aug 14th. Unfortunately, I can't use this because our vacation isn't until October. Hopefully, I will get another in the next few months that I can use...crossing my fingers.

The only things that I've done recently that may have triggered the Pin code is
1. Booked Disney vacation package
2. Ordered Planning DVD
3. Ordered Maps
