DH & I have had these same conversations. We could vacation anytime. DH is a stay at home dad and my job has flexibility.
DD is in preschool (4 years old) and we took her out last year for a week in November and a couple days over New Years for WDW trips.
This year we were in FL for two weeks.
I also take her out when I travel for a conference.
I am not sure how much that will change as she gets older. I do believe that the combination of incredible family time and opportunities for learning will keep us taking her out.
This year she had just started Spanish lessons and the whole time in FL she practice and doubled her vocabulary. She also learned her senses in Figment. (Just to name a few)
