How do you decorate your suitcase?

We have giant green suitcases, which used to be great for air travel. Unfortunately, they're bigger than most airlines allow now. All of our other luggage is black. Last trip, my DH kept thinking he saw other people with our bags as they are totally generic and just like all the other black luggage. I tied red ribbon on the handles but a lot of other people had the same idea. So, what other ways are there of making a suitcase easy to spot on the baggage carousel?

I cut a lot of pieces of bright orange yarn and tie it to the handles. It looks like a big orange yarn wig. I always find my luggage!:)
My grandpa takes yellow electrical tape and makes a big "Z" on the front of his luggage (his last name begins with that letter). We never miss that bag either!:)

I found a mickey mouse stamp at Home Depot and I stamped the whole thing in different colored paint. It was very easy to spot.

Don't know if this matters, or not, but I was going to do this...then realized we're using ME! Duh. Don't care if our luggage is stealth and invisible, as long as someone can read the luggage tag.

Otherwise, I had thought of using some obnoxious hot pink tape that we have leftover from my dd's project.

I tied on one piece of green/white checkered material & one piece of blue/white checkered material. Even though we're using ME, I want to be able to tell them what to look for if they can't find our bags. And, it's helpful for the trip home too.

Good point..maybe I will go ahead and break out the pink tape, afterall. ;)

;) I used puffy paints and made a rainbow of Mickey heads all over the luggage. Definitely makes our bags stand out in the sea of black luggage.

I tie a ribbon on our luggage but I picked one with a neat pattern on it because most people pick a bold solid color. I think mine right now is white with a silver and gold design on it:confused3 I always find it quickly

i tape loads of neon yellow "dots" (that i cut out from a large roll of tape) and stick them all over our black luggage

it "stands out" alright - so much, that my DH admits to being embarassed to claiming it at the baggage carousel

(but there's never a problem locating our luggage!!)

We bought a small roll of florescent yellow duct tape, and ran it down each side. Did that about 8 years ago, and it's still on there!

A few years back I bought a giant plush goldfish clip-on to put on our luggage. It's not too large but definitely conspicuous:rotfl:
We've used it for all trips since:thumbsup2

And I got Lime Green Luggage Tags to go on our floral (me & DH) and red (DS) suitcases:thumbsup2

Growing up, my dad did that to all our luggage - a big silver duct tape "C" on all the bags.

A few years ago, I bought bright lime green luggage straps at Target. They are nylon, adjustable, and just wrap around the suitcase. Very easy to pick out of a crowd. They had other colors, too. I remember neon pink was one choice.

I have Nightmare Before Christmas luggage tags that I use. They are giant Jack heads. I see one of those and I know it's my luggage. I've also gone the luggage strap route in the past.

We have those too! We also have some older Disney luggage tags as well, but it seems no matter what, we are never the only ones with them on our bags.

Wow, you guys are creative. I just used bright colored bandanas (orange, pink or yellow usually stand out, since most bandanas are darker colors).

WOW, we better coordinate our trips or our luggage will get mixed up. :rotfl2:

I painted bright yellow paw prints and a large Lime Green Mickey Head on our plain black ones. We get comments on them where ever we are. You can't miss them on the luggage carrousel.

On the last trip I took, my unique luggage tag got lost somewhere along the way in baggage handling, so it was hard to find my black bag!! So, I definitely suggest y'all do more than just a luggage tag to spot your bag. (Also, this is why the experts suggest to put your name & info. inside your bag as well as on/in your tag!)

On my previous set of luggage, I had painted some designs on it (front and sides) with colorful and sparkly nail polish.

Now I am planning on using dark fabric iron-on printer paper to place some unique images/designs on my bags (front and sides). I just have to think of what I want on them! :)
