How do you count down?

We're nearing the single digit mark (I'll be doing the dance tomorrow!!) :cool1: and I've been counting down for my DH with small slips of paper placed in strange places throughout the house. They each have a small pic of a character and in Waltograph font say how many days we have to go! Some of the places I've put them is: On his steering wheel, in between the rolls in his lunchbox, and under the toilet rim!!! :smooth:

He asked me yesterday: "Are you doing anything special for single digits??" I went: "Uhhh......sure......" :confused3 when I meant to say "no, not really!!"

So, does anyone have any more cool (inexpensive) ways to count down the days????

It was also so sweet! We were laying in bed after we'd turned out the lights and he asked me: "What are you looking forward to the most??" I said "Seeing the castle for the first time!" He said "Actually getting there!" Then he said "What are you looking forward to the least?" I said "The roller-coasters" I've promised to ride them with him, I'm just a little nervous... He said "Flying" Yikes!!!!

Okay...I need to get back to work! Later gang!!

That is so cute!! I'm interested in seeing what ideas others give so here's a   BUMP!!!!

I think you are doing a great job of counting down! I never thought of putting something on the toilet! Now that is a good one!

Make sure you wear something lime green or put lime green Mickey paint chips on your back packs so in case I see you I will know you are a DisBoarder!

I can hardly wait. :cool1:  Especially since it has been snowing for hours now! :earseek:

I have been printing Mickey Mouse faces from the computer, and glue them to poster board with a number for each day left underneath them.
Every night before my boys go to bed, they can pull one MM off, and see how many days are left. I usually start about 60 days out, so I have another month to go before I put another one together!!!

You could leave him little gifts along with the notes. Maybe a new pair of sunglasses, a book for the plane, a new Disney t-shirt, etc.

Or you could coordinate it with the # of days...9 bandaids for blisters, 8 pieces of gum, 7 pairs of new socks, and so on. I was thinking of new sunglasses for 2 days....2 eyes....but that's a stretch!!! :teeth:

Her are some things I do with my family:

At the 10 day mark we order a pizza made with a topping that says "10"

from there we do cupcakes with the # on each one. Of course we are olny allowed to eat one a day or we are off count. This goes over big with DH & DD's.

I like thinking up new ideas but they look forward to those the most.

"IF IT AN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT" ha, ha, ha.

Since I'm still a ways away from our first ever trip (in July), I have taken a small "Post-it" notepad and numbered it with how many "weeks" are left until our trek and affixed it on my "spacious, executive cubicle" here at work. I simply peel of a sheet every Monday morning when I arrive at my desk.

I highly recommend it!! Have fun!!

First time we went, DS and I made a chain out of construction paper with the number of links until leaving. He got to tear one link off a day. Last time we went I didn't tell him until the night before. It was a birthday surprise and I sent him on a scavenger hunt in the house for "keys" that eventually led to the Kingdom. He liked that the best.

But, since he knows this time again, he's been crossing it off on a calendar (boring). I'm trying to get ideas for the last 30 days though--so keep them coming!!!

Hi!

This is going to sound really silly, but it is something we used to do at Summer Camp to countdown the days until parent's weekend:

A toilet paper countdown!

We would take a long strip of TP and on each square write numbers in marker from whatever to 0. We then tacked it up near the bathroom door. Each morning, we got to tear off a square of paper and flush it! Sounds silly, but it is a great and ridiculously inexpensive way to get excited about a countdown! Hope that helps!

We have a set of Mickey Ears someone gave us sitting on top of our computer monitor. I've set my screensaver to a black screen with a scrolling red marquee. It says, "65 Days Until We Go To Walt Disney World!!!" Each night before I go to bed I change the number so that when the kids wake up the next morning they know exactly how many days until the big trip. Anyone can do this if you have Windows. Just go to Settings, then to Control Panel then to Display. Click on Screensaver, then Scrolling Marquee. Just type in the words and pick your font and color. :hourglass :earboy2: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy:

I like this. I'm going to try it! :earsgirl:

wrote the numbers on it....each day we cross off a number.....62 days and counting! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Those are such great ideas.

Mine is quite boring, but does give me a thrill once a week.

We are about 200 days out from going, but at work, I have outlook set up to pop up on my screen each day how many days until we go. I delete it from there and then it goes into my main delete bucket. When I clean out my emails on Sunday's it so neat to see how many of these calendar days I get to delete. Doesn't seem like progress just deleting the one day at a time, but by week's end it sure does add up.

I also send my DS22 an email each Sunday with the weekly count down in big bold letters.

I also update my live journal on line every 1 to 4 weeks and list it there as well. So by the time I write in it next, that many more weeks pass by.

My DS8 counts down by my paychecks...weird I know, but he's a math type person so paychecks are a big deal to him. I get paid every two weeks, so these go down quickly in his mind. Plus, him saying only 15 more paychecks til Disney, sounds better that 200 and something days!!

Okay.....it's half trivia, half "While You Were Out".......

I've found 10 trivia questions about Disney that I'll be quizzing DH. If he gets them correct, he'll get something for the trip (it's really stuff we'll be taking anyway...but still)

Example: Why was ToT built to the specific height of 199 feet?
If he gets it correct, he gets a box of Star War band aids for his blisters which he's bound to get!!!
