brine mine...Soak it in Kosher salt water overnight..I also add lemon juice,Sliced lemons ,white wine to the the brine, but you don't have too.
I also soak a cheesecloth in butter and put it over the turkey. It helps hold the butter when you baste it and gives the skin a wonderful dark color

I put mine in a very large paper bag pour a cup of water over the turkey roll the end of the bag up and don't even peek until it's done.

I just drive to my aunt's house. A fully cooked turkey is magicly waiting for me! :teeth:

Wow, how lazy am I? I throw it in the oven with a little bit of water and bake it till it's done. No butter, no cheesecloth, nothing fancy--I don't even like to stuff it. I've never understood why some people freak out about making a turkey--we eat it all year round and it doesn't have to be more difficult than baking a chicken. Although, I do love it when people get fancier with it--just ain't happening at my house, though.

An outside propane burner, a large pot, six gallons of peanut oil, some Tony Sacheres sauce injected into the bird and about 1 hour and 15 minutes later you have perfect fried turkey.

For me..I just LOVE to cook and Thanksgiving is the high point of my year..And Rosh Hashanah

I stuff ours first. Then I put it in a Reynolds Cook in Bag. It makes a very moist turkey and not much to the clean up.

And I drive to my sister's house ... in Chicgao no less ;). She brines hers and then BBQs it since her oven is small and she needs the room for all the goodies.

Cooking bag here - been using it for years. I get the 20 lb bird into the oven by 7 am & we're eating by 1 pm.

I am with you Brerrabbit...once you have fried, you will never go back:)

Forgot to mention, this year the fried turkey will have to wait for Christmas, cause our Thanksgiving turkey will be eaten at the Crystal Palace in MK on Thanksgiving Day. WOO HOO only 9 days till we leave for a week at WDW!!!

My wonderful DH saves me the trouble of roasting a bird...he fries ours. It is the BEST. Injects with butter and Old Bay, fries in peanut oil. 15 LB bird, fnished in about an hour and 15 minutes, and tastes awesome-so moist!

I have always wanted to try a fried turkey. Is there any place where you can rent all the stuff you'd need to do it?

I really want to try a fried turkey as well. Zandy, renting is a great idea! I wonder if it's possible.

I like how mine comes out. I stuff it with carrots, onions, and celery, then rub it all over with softened butter or margarine (ICBINB), then sprinkle seasoned salt all over it. Put it in a Reynold's oven bag and bake until it's done. The flavor of the veggies goes all through the turkey and it's so flavorful and moist.

I hate eating at my familys' homes. MIL makes the driest, nastiest turkey, as does my mom. DH's aunts make a good turkey, but they give all the dark meat to their husbands, so we never get any.

apples & onions in the cavity, herb butter under the skin, canola oil on the outside, on a roasting rack with chicken broth in the pan. Roast at 500F for 30 mins first, then 325F the rest of the time, with aluminium foil on the breast.

when the turkey's done, the chicken broth mixes with the pan drippings to make a really rich gravy.

Mmmm, that sounds good! What do the apples do? And why chicken broth as opposed to turkey broth?
