How do you contact retired athletes?

I need to find a way to contact Ricky Henderson. I know that he is retired but does he still have an agent? How would I contact him?

In most cases the team he last played for or has the biggest connection to should be able to contact him or at least be able to forward something to him.

Rickey had some playing time with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2003 and didn't Rickey also play some Independent League ball with the Newark Bears last year? Maybe they are still in contact with Rickey.

See how I kept referring to Rickey by name in the third person, just like Rickey does?;)

Good luck, hope you find a way to get in touch with him.

My sister used to work for the Yankees. I asked her if she could help and she said she couldn't contact anyone who would know. She suggested his agent....but how would I find out who his agent is?

I'll try the Newark Bears I guess.

Thanks for your help!

Suzy, I would definitely contact his last employer, the Dodgers. Three ways you can do it.......

Los Angeles Dodgers
Dodger Stadium
1000 Elysian Park Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90012-1199
Phone: (323) 224-1500
e-mail: fanfeedback@dodgers.mlb.com

You can also try to contact his agent, Jeff Borris, through the Players' Association......

Major League Baseball Players Association
12 East 49th Street
24th Floor
New York, NY 10017
Phone: (212) 826-0808
e-mail: feedback@mlbpa.org

Thank you very much! Hopefully something will work.

Here's the story...

Years ago, when he was on the Yankees, my husband took me to a game. We sat behind home plate. The Yankees were warming up and Rickey was tossing the ball with someone else on the field. I yelled to him and asked him for the ball. He gently tossed it to me. When I went to catch it an unseen chain, that was thigh level, prevented me from catching it. When I went to get it two kids ran over and grabbed it from me. To this day my husband still teases me about it.

I want to write to him and see if he'll send some sort of a picture...note...heck I'd even go for the ball. I need to get my husband off my back already.

I would love for a ball signed..."glad to see you caught this one"...dream on right???

Thanks again for all your help!

It does not hurt to ask for a ball!! You would be surprised at how some of these famous athletes remember little things like your story. Carlton Fisk remembered me from when we met him at a meet 'n greet years earlier. My sister went to walk around to his other side and almost fell off the platform we were on. Thanks to "Pudge's" quick reflexes, he caught her jacket and prevented the fall. When I met him again about 5 years later, I went to tell him about our other "encounter" and he remembered it better than I did. Good luck getting in touch with him, and I hope he can help you get your husband off your back.

He also played for the Blue Jays you could try contacting them to they will likeley get ahold of him for you if they can.

Suzy,

I've resurrected this thread because of a new Rickey sighting;)

It seems he has re-signed with the Newark Bears. Here's a link to the story:

It's probably easier to contact him through an independent minor league team like the Bears than it would be through an MLB team. But you'd better catch him quick because last year old Rickey ended up back in the majors in July!
