How do you "close" a mountain?!?!

Boy - my vacation crapped! We were in a cabin on the lake - first it rained, then poured, then rained, then thunderstorms (did see an awesome rainbow!).

The first hike we tried to do - the mountain was "closed"!!!!! Can you beleive it!

The next day, we tried a different hike to some falls - the "brook" we had to wade through had turned into the Mississippi from all the rain! We had to turn back! We did manage two small hikes in between the showers.

How did we spend all the down time? You guessed it - "Let's eat!" I am so disappointed. I will weigh in tomorrow and post on the weigh-in thread, but I ain't happy about it!

Does anyone have a one or two day cleansing diet that they like? I feel I have to give my poor tummy a break!

Yikes! I'm headed North this morning, I hope it's not the same Mountain I go to hike! They usually close it because it's too wet and muddy making it dangerous to hike due to sliding.

For cleansing I usually just cut out carbs for a couple of days. Seems to work for me. Good luck!

Oh dear! That is just terrible. I'm sorry it rained so much on your vacation. Well, don't beat yourself up for eating, what happened is over and you are going to make healthy choices from today on. At least you made the effort to try and do some hiking. Thank goodness you are ok and that you didn't get into any dangerous situations. Phew! I'd rather have you back here safe and sound with a stuffed tummy than read a post asking for pixie dust because you broke a limb or something during a wet hike!

Harambe, I was wondering how your trip went last weekend. Yes, it did rain and rain and rain. It has been this way for weeks!! I wish your annual weekend "in the woods" had been better. Come back in October!

My family and I were scheduled to get away this past weekend to Reid State Park (Downeast from Bath, ME). However, as the weekend approached.......rain, rain, rain. So, we headed south. We spend the weekend in Boston. It was awesome!!! However, at 10:45pm Saturday evening we ordered room service...creme burlee. I ate the whole thing!! From there it was down hill, but not a complete mud slide!

Today, I am back on schedule. We decided to eat fairly light this week (actually, I do not like to cook when it is hot and humid) so salads it will be for dinner. Hopefully, this will bring me back to where I was on Friday.

You are absolutely right about being safe. Actually - one day when the sun came out for a bit, DH and kids had gone for an ice cream leaving me alone. I went out and hiked a small trail near our cabin by myself!! That is like the dumbest thing in the world, but I had actual "cabin fever"!

Mermaid02 - We were at Webb Lake in Weld, out near Rumford. The mountain that was closed was Bald Mountain in Wilton, apparently because of a land dispute (?). Angels Falls was the place with high waters.

Annie T. - I'll be praying for good weather for you! Very buggy, bring lots of OFF!

My BIL and his family live in Rumford and were telling me yesterday how much rain they have had there! So sorry about your vacation. It has been the yuckiest dreariest stretch of weather I can remember for a long time.

Sorry to hear your weather was lousy on your vacation. That really sucks that you couldn't get out and exercise so you could increase what you ate. I hate when the only thing left to do is eat!!
