How do you check a booster seat for a flight?

Flew to DL last May with Alaska Airlines. Were told by flight attendant that booster had to be stored away during take off and landing but if DD wanted to use it any other time, that was fine.

This is a good ideas since most airlines are no longer providing the bags for you.
This happened to us this morning - the airline not providing the bag. My DD5 is going away for a few days with her grandparents. Flying domestically (in Australia.) We normally fly Qantas and the airline supplies a bag for carseats, this morning we flew Virgin Blue and they don't supply bags! I was in shock! We didn't want the carseat to go through unbagged, so I took it back to the car, gave MIL some money to hire/purchase one on arrival.

This is my big conundrum. DD is require by law to ride in one here in IL. She will be 7 but not yet 60lb. Not sure what I am doing as I am flying out with the kids myself and i will already have to worry about both kids, the stroller and our carry-ons, and DS4 carseat.
