How do you celebrate Father's Day?

I just do the normal things I do everyday and feel sad- try to stay off facebook because of all the "happy fathers day" stuff, my dad died 30 years ago so no reason to celebrate this "holiday"

My dad also died 30 years ago, but my DH is a dad and so is DS, so we celebrate for them, not for me.

WE actually had to go out of town this weekend to move my daughter out of her apt so are just relaxing after the 4 hour drive home. Going to make a green bean casserole I saw on pioneer woman and get some bbq takeout from dustins later, and maybe make a nice dessert too. Seems like we usually go out on Mother's day but stay home on fathers day.

Well, today DH was up at 3:30am (which means I had to get up too, because the man cannot get dressed in a dark room). Got DS up at 4:15 am, got everyone showered, and Dh hauled DS off to the scout summer camp pickup at the church at 5am. (DS is going to Boy Scout camp in Northern Georgia, about 9 hours away.)

He hung around until 5:30, after all the drivers had left, then he came back home. We messed around for a little bit, then went to breakfast at Ihop (where the food was ok, except they forgot my hash browns---well, not forgot as much as said they don't come with the item I ordered---and I asked them for the menu to show that they came with the item. There was so much huffing and puffing going on, you would think that I was asking for her to grow the potatoes from scratch. I finally got my hash browns, after everything else was done and DH was heading up to pay the bill. Just FTR, the thing I ordered did come with hash browns, and if it had been a simple error, I would have let the situation go--but the attitude and rolling of eyes, yeah, that irritates the heck out of me. A word with the manager--after we paid the bill and left a 10% tip---and we were out the door.)

Went to Walmart, to get nonfood stuff (cleaners, paper towels, etc). Then home to be lazy all day long, naps and video games.

My mom, dad and I went to lunch at a historic L.A. restaurant and then we went to the Grammy museum. Now my GF is coming over with her kids and we are going to play some Wii.

My dad passed 26 years ago. On Father's Day I remember him and think of all the good memories and weird gifts we used to bestow on him. lol. I wish him a happy Father's Day, tell him I miss and love him, and how grateful I had him in my life for the time I had him. No sadness. Just happy memories. Then I spend the rest of my day watching our kids make memories with their dad, my husband.
