How do you call for a Minnie Van ride?

A positive I think comes with this is if Disney messed up and needs to get you somewhere they can send you in a Minnie Van at no charge. Not saying it will be a regular occurence, but it does happen. Like if you are moved to another resort, etc.

$20 per ride flat fee for anywhere on property. Compared with the Uber Rides we took from Boardwalk around the property in an Uber XL, that's roughly double the price of Uber.

It's the availability of the car seat(s) that is the game changer. My son and his family have an 11 month old. Car rental prices are through the roof and they can't use Uber/Lyft or a cab. This would be a wonderful option for them to get to another resort for a character meal they have booked. Crossing fingers that it rolls out next week!

Minnie Vans service? The announcement I saw said all vans. Hence the name. Minnie Vans. Chevy's Traverse vans to be specific. Because of Disney's partnership with Chevy.

Not sure about other resorts, but dvc resorts sell liquor. From a quick perusal I never noticed that the prices are horrendous (but I've been told by a friend who knows such things that tax on liquor in my state is very high so I might be filtering the cost through that). By the time you pay for a driver to take you somewhere or for a rental car, you might possibly have been better off to run over to old key west to buy some booze.

Yes, we've been checking through a number of sources. If they get desperate, I'm going to recommend renting something for a couple of days. They are going to try to make it work.

IMHO Disney has rolled this out to a target audience. For example, I was there in February and stayed at BLT. My wife and I wanted to see we Illumniations at 8pm and it was already 7pm. We got an Uber X to BC so we could go in via International Gateway. We paid $9. In this scenario the Minnie Van would not have helped. This was our night out of the trip and our DD was back at the resort with her Grandparents. Had we wanted to bring her, an Uber Family would have been over $30 that night! Minnie Van would have been a great choice in that case.

Obviously not everything at Disney is targeted to families with young kids. However, if being able to go point to point from resort to resort to make an ADR with my DD and not have to spend at least an hour using buses via a park, is possible in a Minnie Van for $20, then I'm in. Uber is just not a good option in that scenario.

This is targeted to young families who want an on demand service and/or those who choose not to Uber or cab. I'll still use Uber when it makes sense. Lord knows we are all already paying a ton and every little bit helps but this really makes sense when it's in the right context.

I didn't read what was linked here. The announcement I saw from D23 on Saturday was all vans, just the Traverse. As with all things probably need to wait on official release when it's rolled out. That will be the only way to get the real final word on all the details

Uber (only, not Lyft) does offer a car seat at Disney for an extra charge. Just in limited areas, basically near Disney or universal. Just 1 and just a 5 point seat, no booster

Right now they are only available at BW, BC, and YC. It's $20 to go for a ride to anywhere on Disney property. We're staying at BWI next week and really want to ride in a Minnie Van! I'll report back if we're able to!!

This will be of value to my wife and I..... but not to everyone.

1) We're not going to use UBER. We have our reasons.
2) Regular MEARS taxi from our home resort (WL) to GF, or Contemporary, is about $10 with solid tip.... not using a MinnieVan.
3) Trips to dinner at the Swan/Dolphin? MinnieVan wins.
4) We now have an escape mechanism when everything connected with Buss/Monorail just breaks down. Traffic? Who cares: this is FLAT rate.

We will use this - for longer trips, and emergencies.

Even if POR (where we will be Aug 5) doesn't have it, I wonder if you could use it to go to Boardwalk, who will have it. Bon Voyage breakfast!

If this is the case, half the Minnie vans they have will be making trips just for Bon voyage!

Good question, but it may depend on the party size. I don't think a Traverse has much cargo space when using the 3rd row seating. So a party of 5 or 6 probably means no or minimal space for luggage. A party of 2 could likely fit luggage. Just my thoughts, though.

I have purchased at POR and I know they have it at POFQ. Prices aren't bad when you are at the end of the night and your 1L of Woodford is gone. Cheaper than paying for drinks at the bar. Level is decent, had to settle for Beam.

When they have it up and running throughout WDW, it will take you from anywhere on Disney property to any destination on Disney property. It doesn't go offsite. Right now it's only available at select resorts but will be available everywhere in the future.

The Minnie Vans (I don't remember what vehicle it is specifically) seat 6 passengers. I don't know what they will do with the car seats that are installed when a party of 6 adults would like to go somewhere. Perhaps they will have a few Minnie Vans with no car seats? It's all a mystery right now until they are more widely available.

Such an interesting offering by Disney and related discussion on this thread. An overwhelmingly complicated service to provide with minimal information to date to help us actually understand the numerous nuances involved - typical Disney style!

But, put me down as someone that this 'could' potentially work for us. We're in the uber/taxi camp for general WDW travel but are in that weird spot when DD2 is with us.

Obviously Disney is just testing the waters with this. Will be interesting to see what comes of it.
