How do you bring rain gear into the parks?

Help! What do you do with your rain gear?

We are headed to UO on Saturday and planned on carrying a backpack with rain gear into the parks. I'm a bit concerned because many of you mentioned that they do not allow backpacks on rides. Do you have to lock it up? Or is there a cubby to leave it when we are on the rides? I'm not too worried about a backpack with 5 rain ponchos in it, I just don't want to get stuck.

Thanks!

The rides that require you to remove your backpack will have lockers for you to use. I always take a backpack to universal and never have a problem

Rain gear???

We get the dollar store disposable ponchos. When it looks like rain that day we just each put one in our back pockets. No need to the bag.

That's what we do. We also use the disposable ponchos on water rides.

Do they actually work on the water rides and keep you dry?

Of course, I've always thought the point of water rides is...to get wet ;-)

I only use the ponchos if we are not doing water rides. If I do water ride dim in swim shorts and a t shirt with sandals. The whole point is to get wet. Plus staying onsite gives you this opportunity to go get wet and return to the hotel.

I don't bring ponchos..This time of year as hot as it is , I like the rain..LOL

We have not had much success with the cheap ponchos, and since I grew up in CA and then WA I can't do the disposable thing without major pangs.

We bought nice ponchos from the Rick Steves travel store; they fold up into themselves and go into a backpack.

It depends on the day and the mood, but sometimes they are worn for water rides and sometimes they are not. For me a water ride is about the experience and having water splash on me, but it's NOT generally something I want to continue to experience for hours after. So a poncho gives me the feeling of having the cold water splash on me, with none of the long term consequences. Nowadays I'm feeling a lot more confident having a soaking wet set of clothes on, especially now that my "upper undergarments" aren't quite so big and obvious (see ticker for 82+ lb weight loss that caused that joyous change), so on our last wet-ride day at Universal I left the poncho off. DS chose to wear mine that day as he wasn't wanting to be wet and dripping later on.

As for rainy moments, I'm not totally sure we've yet encountered rain that we wanted to still be in the parks for at WDW/Universal. I remember trying to outrun a storm only to be caught in it while waiting for transportation, but it was at the close of the park day anyway.

I got caught once in the rain and was in the parks and ended up buying the Universal rain ponchos. Must have cost between $6.99-$8.99. Normally I would say that's too much, however I have bought the dollar store/Wal Mart ponchos for years and they were horrible. Really thin, ripped easily, etc. The Universal ones have lasted for two years now (with being used on many different trips) and can be folded up to fit in the pockets of my cargo shorts.
