How do you ask for a specific room?

Another poster has mentioned a specific room at BWV (1-BR) that seems to be ideal. It would be great to get this room, but I'm not sure what the best way is to try to get it.

We already have our reservations in. Do I call MS back and add the room number request?

I've also heard that you can fax or call requests a couple of weeks prior to arrival. Does anyone have any experience as to which works best? If you fax, what do you say and what is the number. If a phone call is placed, who to?

Thanks for any help.

I'm not sure about BWV but at OKW (we book 11 months in advance) we request certain buildings. Out of the 12 times requested, we received our room request 11 times!!!! Also, try at check in. They may be able to switch around just prior to your or someone elses arrival to the room.

For future reference: The earlier you request, the better the odds (we've found).

So, its not guaranteed, but a great probability!

Hi Caskbill. Just thought I would offer my experience on getting room selection. Based on my experiences, calling MS or CRO to request rooms isn't always a guarantee. Instead what works is being willing to take your chances when you get there (in addition to the room request).

This is what happened for DH and I on our trip last May to BWV: We arrived very early around 9am-ish. Of course our room wasn't available yet but I very kindly asked the CM if we could have a room overlooking the BW and Spaceship Earth. I told him that I realized that those rooms are minimal but would love to have it and would be willing to wait as long as needed (ie, checking in at 4pm instead of earlier).

The CM said, "That's a good thing. If you choose to check in early, you will get a room with a view of Luna Park. If you are willing to wait a little longer, I can get you a room with a terrific view so you decide what's more important--the view or checking in super early?"

I though it was great of the CM to share that info with me. Hope my story helps too.

There's a problem with asking for a specific room number:
  • What is the chance that the particular room will become vacant on the morning of the day you're checking in? (After all, members often stay several days or even a week or more.)
  • And then what is the chance that it hasn't already been assigned to someone else who is checking in that day? (After all, it might have had qualities that met another member's preferences.)

You can call and put it on your requests but understand that specific room number request is the kind of request that is least likely to be honored; you probably have a better shot (and that even is not much of one) of just asking for it when you check in to see if it is unassigned.

Thanks for the advice about offering to check in later. We like to show up early too. That's good to know!

Thanks everyone for the replies. I know it all depends on whether that particular room becomes vacant the day we check in. (We check in on a Sunday). We'll be there early, and won't really need the room until late, so I think the idea of getting there early, and if that room will be available at all, then try to reserve it and be willing to wait for it as necessary.

We will actually be at WDW 2-weeks earlier (at FW), so I might even stop by sometime then and check with the CM's at BW to see if I can arrange anything ahead of time.

I'll post back and let you know.
