My DD10, loves to cook and try new things. She is really looking forward to visiting Epcot and "sampling " foods from different countries. Is that possible or are most Epcot rest. best for sit down meals?

Help...How do we do this??? :D

Your best bet is to go to the table service restaurants for meals. You can get fast food or snacks at some of the countries. Depends on how much you feel like eating.

Most of the countries have some sort of counter service, but some is more authentic than others. The counter service in Morocco is very good. You can also get some great French pastries at the Bakery in France.

You will be best off going to the Epcot Food & Wine Festival held from October 1 through mid-November. Besides having lots of information about cooking, they (this year) had 25 booths from different countries where you could purchase appetizer-size portions of two or three items. It is all around World Showcase.

Most, if not all (?), countries offer both a sitdown and counter service place. We LOVE doing just that, sampling, along the way. Nachos and margarita in Mexico, pastry and coffee in France, hot dog in USA, eggroll in China, school bread in Norway, brat in Germany, etc etc.

So you can do that, and eat all the way around, or you could choose one restaurant and have a big meal. Food and Wine festival is also a great way to sample all of the many things they offer!

www.allearsnet.com will list all restaurants (counter and table) in Epcot, so you can get a feel for pricing and offerings.

UK has a fish and chips stand. Japan has a counter service restaurant to the left on a hill as you face the main pavilion, sort of hidden behind the pagoda where they have the drum show.

Another thought is that many of the shops in the World Showcase area have some pretty standard pre-packaged "snack food" (chips, candy, cookies, that sort of thing) from the countries.

It's wonderful to hear about a child that likes to try and experience new foods and isn't a "picky mac & cheese only" type eater.

Oh that school bread in Norway is a MEAL! Yum! It's delicious! Maybe this trip we'll try eating around the world, too.

I was going to suggest the same thing! They have cooking classes there, samples of food from all over the world. If you can make it anytime between the 29th of September and either the 13th or 20th (don't know which for this year) of November she can sample to her heart's content!

:D I love the counter service ideas...she would love sampling a bit here and there. She is not a big eater so we might have to sample for several days

I love the Food festival idea... She would LOVE that!! Guess we will just have to start planning another trip to Disney in the Fall :jumping4: :jumping4: (What a GREAT excuse....I'll tell my DH we need to go again to enhance our daughters education....)

Actually, who needs an excuse to go to Disney right :flower:

How are the crowds for the festival? Anyone know???

Happy Sunday...Go EAGLES :cool1: :cool1:

This is one of my family's favorite things about Epcot! The only thing I would add to what has already been said is that we do alot of sharing! I haven't been to the Food & Wine festival since 1997, but I'm hoping to make it back this fall. The weekends are crowded, but don't let that keep you away. There you do get sample sized portions so you can try alot more and they add booths from countries that aren't normally at Epcot. It has grown alot since I was there! BTW- Chuck, this was when I discovered that my kids who were only 3 and 16 months old at the time, did like "different" foods. They absolutely loved the Morrocan food...still do! Food & Wine Festival is my favorite time to go. Be sure to pick her up a cookbook from the event if you go. It'll have all the recipes from all the booths in it. I used to collect the recipe cards (have a whole box of those) but now they have a book.

My son loves the cooking demonstrations. I think he was 11 for our first F&WF trip. He also loves to cook & try new foods. He has always been an adventurous eater.
