Ok, I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right place, so mods, feel free to move me if necessary.

My DH and I have been planning a big 3 week trip to Disney with DS who will be 4 and DD who will be 3 for next November. We will hopefully be there to catch the tail end of F & W, our anniversary (on the 10th) and our last day will be Thanksgiving. We planned on staying in BWV on rented DVC points for the 1st week because this was our honeymoon hotel and where we want to spend our anniversary. We plan on doing in room dining on our anniversary so it can be fancy but we don't need to worry that the kids on their best behaviour the whole time. After this we will move on to Sarasota to visit family (my dad) for a week. Our last week will hopefully be AKL concierge level again on rented DVC points.

Well now, my grandma (who is 72) and my disabled aunt who has various health issues are thinking of coming with us. My grandma is a very capable woman who copes with my aunt and my children one of the weeks I am at work, the other week she works nights. So as you can see she is pretty capable of coping but doesn't feel confident taking my aunt alone to Florida without our help. Last time they went my aunt was seriously ill in hospital and it was a nightmare trip.

So, we are trying to figure out how to make this work. They are not really into the Disney thing and would prefer to just go shopping at Walmart but I think they want to go the parks sometimes to see the kids enjoying it. My DH thinks that the trip is going to a bit difficult and there will be a lot of arguments (they can be quite controlling at times). I really would love this trip to work out well as this year has been pretty tough and it is, quite honestly, the only thing keeping me going.

The problem is now that they are coming DH's enthusiam is dissolving rapidly. He wants to makes some changes to the hotel choices because BW is our hotel and he really doesn't want to share it (a little selfish but I kind of share his desire to keep it ours). However, it would be best if we were within walking distance of EPCOT for the F & W. How can I ensure that this trip will be awesome for all of us?

ground rules!
talk to everyone, arrange for your family to take the kids to pool/park so you can spend some quality time, put them into a different hotel on the boardwalk, or just move everyone to SS for the duration, better you all miss out than cause a major rift!
planning is the key, trying to work out what you want to do, and how, then talk!
good luck, i would never take my family on holiday, i love them, but not 24/7 with the mouse!!

Do you Grandma and Aunt need to come with you for the whole 3 weeks, could they just come for one or two weeks so you still get some time with just your family?
