How do the discounts work? AAA, etc...might stay at Poly for honeymoon

I have gone to Disney a few times, but have always stayed in a value. We are more than likely going to Disney in September for part of our honeymoon and I would love to stay at the Polynesian. I never really looked for discounts before since we always stayed value but now I am wondering how those discounts would work. I have AAA...do they always offer these discounts? Also I think I read somewhere on here that sometimes they have special promotions that come out throughout the year that you can have applied to your rate. Does that work with packages too?
