How do resort refurbishments impact room category (if at all)?

With the recent announcement of Animal Kingdom upcoming refurbishments, I'm curious to know how they handle current reservations. Did they already take rooms out of the booking tool or is it possible we'll get moved? If we booked a savanna view room, is there a chance of being downgraded? I remember hearing people were moved when Boardwalk was undergoing renovations but can't remember the details...

Rooms should have been removed from inventory prior to the booking window opening. So hopefully they don't need to move people.

I think the Boardwalk issue had to do with existing plumbing woes that kept happening mid refurbishment, too. I don't believe there's *normally* that many rooms taken offline with crazy bumping to other resorts/categories.

As others have said, rooms are typically taken out of inventory well in advance. There are occasional situations where schedules run behind and they have to move guests. Those are very rare. The move is communicated weeks ahead of the trip--it's not a situation where they knock on your door and make you pack up your stuff. There's usually some compensation offered, along with a refund of points if they move you to a lesser accommodation.
