How Do I Strategize Bus Transportation???

Hey all! So I'm visiting WDW in March with my boyfriend and I've never ever used the bus system before. I have no idea what to expect, but I guess I'm wondering more on how early I should take a bus to a certain location to get there on time. I always want to get to rope drop and I of course want to make sure I get to dining reservations on time. Help a first timer out!

I think Disney suggests allowing 90 minutes. If we are going for rope drop, we are usually at the bus stop by 7:15-7:30. That often means we get to the parks early and have to wait, but not always.

90 min to get to an ADR (gives you a cushion but there are times you need it)
60 min to get to a rope drop, remembering that the parks open their turnstyles early, 15-30 min early, and then hold you at internal ropes. Aim to leave 60 min before that

We were there last week and all parks had 9:00 a.m. rope drop every day.

We were at the bus stop by 8:00 a.m. and made rope drop, no problem. This was at SSR.

Last trip from BWV we only had to use the buses for MK and AK, our best time door to door was about 30 minutes and our worst (AK) was an hour and 45 minutes (but there was definitely something wrong with the bus schedule that day). I think on average it works out to be @ 45 minutes.

I use disney transport every time I am there rather than private car. I find the bus trip itself to be between 10 minutes (aKL to AK) to 30 minutes (AK to MK). How long you wait for a bus can add anywhere from a few minutes to half an hour. I never use the buses to get to a resort from a resort. 90 minutes is crazy. Grab an uber. Take a Minnie Van. You have spent thousands on this vacation - don't throw away valuable time by taking buses in convoluted routes. Spend an extra $15 and get there quickly. Also keep in mind there are ferries, the monorail (like to get from MK to EP. And again when I don't want to worry and wait how long it will be to get on a bus and get back to the resort waiting in lines forever at night or to a park in the AM I have often grabbed a taxi or an uber.

When my DD and I stayed at SSR without a car and we had a dinner reservation at another resort, we walked over to DS and grabbed the bus to the resort. It worked great for us.
