How do I stay on track whilst at Disney?

here are a few suggestions:
I don't know which of the restaraunts do but some of the restaraunts have a kids meal that comes with grilled chicken, celery, carrots, grapes and goldfish. The goldfish package wasn't that big, and there was dressing to dip the veggies and the chicken in. Also if you want your own dinner see if the kids menu has any grilled options and ask for veggies instead of fries. Another suggestion would be give yourself one thing a day to indulge whether it be a snack, sweet treat, or order one of your favorite high calorie meals.

Things I CANNOT live without at DW:

Mickey Premium Bar
Turkey Leg (off-limits now, cuz I'm a veggie)
Casey's Fries with cheese sauce (can't eat the hot dogs... why don't they have veggie hot dogs?!)

When I go on vacation, I let myself eat these things (not the meat) as long as I've done really well that day, and I only get one the whole vacation (no 10 ice creams or 5 cups of fries!). My mom is a water-stickler, so we don't do soda while running around. The fresh fruit stands are awesome, and the last trip we had my niece and nephew, and even they could eat healthy with the new kids meals!

I was always irritated at my mom for making us make our own breakfasts when we camped instead of hitting the buffet, but now I see; the buffets are a health-conscious human's nightmare! I used to love the Crockett Tavern and the buffet, but the last time we were there I could hardly eat anything for fear of ingesting an animal (and of clogging my arteries).

I've made two trips to WDW since starting my weight loss. The first was in June, and I lost 2 lbs over a 10 day trip, 6 at WDW and the remainder staying with my brother and his family. The second was last week, where I lost 1 lb on a 5 day trip. Generally, I do plan C. Specifically, last week, we stayed at AKL villas, and had the DDP. We had one table service meal a day, and since we love Boma, we went to dinner there twice, and went to Crystal Palace for dinner once and the Biergarten once. With any buffet, there are a variety of choices, and you can make healthy, good choices or not so good ones. Also, if there is something on the buffet that I just have to have, I take a sample of it, maybe a spoonful or so, to try it out and satisfy my craving. We were so busy that we hardly used any of our snack credits, and only used three days of the counter service type credits. We think we got a good deal. We paid less than what the meals would have cost not on the dining plan, and didn't have the hassle of carrying cash or having to pay at the time of the meal. The only downside is that my son is 9, and still needed to get the kid's meals. Eating the kid's meals at the counter service restaurants would have made me feel really deprived, and, so I didn't. My son didn't like the kid's meal either, and, so, we will probably not do DDP again, which won't be such a good deal when he is 10, and we need to pay the adult price.

I also went to the health club area at AKL. The only downside to this is that I went at a popular time (about 7-8 am), and the operations of the exercise machines were different than mine at home. There was a limit of 30 minutes on a machine, and due to the crowd at the time, I couldn't switch to another to extend my time. So, I ended up not having as strenuous of a workout at I normally do at home, and not for as long. But, since I had gone in June, I knew this would be the case, and worked it into my plan.

Definitely C. We just got back after the FWF which was awesome and the food was hard to resist. popcorn:: I find that if I keep my water intake up I am less hungry and less likely to indulge. I also try to eat my big meal during the middle of the day in order to avoid being too full upon retiring (how tired are we at the end of the day  ). I carry trail mix in my pack to munch on in between times too. The fruit stands are a BIG bonus. Also, we eat breakfast in our room either oatmeal or cereal and milk which saves us $$ and calories! :dance3:

I'd say I'm close to C. I'd lost 10 pounds before we left, but I didn't want to go manic over eating while at Disney. After all, half the reason we go is to eat!! :lmao:

But I think what we did was pretty reasonable honestly. I kept a water bottle with me at all times and was pushing fluids all day. I skipped the sodas (I only drink diet anyway) at most meals and had tea instead, but only one glass of that, and then more water.

As far as eating went, I only ate what I was hungry for. No shoveling down huge portions of food because it was there. In fact, more often than not, we'd only get 3 CS meals and then split around between the four of us (me, DH, DS11, DD10). We still had scads of leftover food.

I didn't deny myself one thing I wanted that whole trip, but when I was comfortably full, I quit. (Mind you, the kids ate more snacks than myself, but hey, they're kids!)

When I got back home, I was pleasantly surprised to see I had in fact not gained any weight, but maintained. The following day after that, I was down two pounds. :woohoo: All that walking does the trick!:yay:

Hi all,
This is my first Disney trip in OA (where I do not eat sugar, flour, wheat.) Last trip, prior to my program, I gained 10 pounds in as many days on the food plan. I am going to skip all my favorite restaurants and just focus on the rides and entertainment. Meal times will be quick counterservice so I am in and out and not thinking about it too long. I found some counterservice places where I can have a salad for lunch, like Cosmic Ray's, Sunshine Seasons, Tusker House, and Pecos Bill. For dinner, I eat 4 oz of protein, 3 oz of non-wheat/flour grain (like brown rice, potato, beans) and 12 oz of veggies. I will be okay eating at Cosmic Ray (rotisserie chick platter,) Tangierine (chick & lamb platter w/o the bread,) Tusker House (rotisserie chick or salmon,) and Sunshine Seasons (salmon.) Does anyone have any other suggestions? My breakfast will be eaten in my hotel room and I do not eat outside of my 3 meals. I can't find good options at MGM. ABC Commissary has curry chick over rice - which I could do, and worst case scenario, I could grab a burger w/o the bun with a side salad. I want to avoid table service meals because it is easier for me to sit down with a committed plate rather than drool over desserts, etc...

Best,
Amanda

Sounds like a good plan, except for Tusker House. Unfortunately, Tusker House is no longer a counter service meal, but has been changed to a buffet. I hate that since I really liked the old menu there.

I'm going to the World Jan 4th - first time as a Weight Watcher! I've lost 21 lbs so far, and hope to lose a little more before the trip - but basically for the trip I will be happy to come home the same as when I left. The water is a great tip, I don't drink as much as I should at home, so I'll have to really be good about it. Also, no DDP this time so less temptation to get an appetizer and dessert! I guess I'm going for plan C, too!
