Since you are more than 2 months before your trip, call CRO (407-WDISNEY) and tell them you want to make DME reservations.
It seems that the DME "department" of Disney can only see reservations up to 2 months in advance, so calling DME directly at this point wouldn't be useful for you.
Thank you, and another ME question. My flight will be coming into Orlando at 11.30am and leaving Orlando at 5.55pm.
Is the ME a huge bus that picks up a bunch of people, so I might have to wait a couple of hrs, or is it a car that picks up individual families. I also made reservations at CP for 11.30 on our day of departure--is that cutting it too close?

Magical Express uses a fleet of deluxe motorcoaches. There will be other guests on your motorcoach. With 5-10 thousand guests using Magical Express each day, there are motorcoaches dispatched constantly. Each motorcoach goes to 2 or 3 (or possibly, but rarely, 4) WDW resorts. You may wait 5 minutes; you may wait 20 minutes before a motorcoach is dispatched to your resort, but you won't have to wait a couple of hours. The ride is about 30 minutes plus the time it takes to stop at other resorts if yours is not the first drop-off.
With an airline departure scheduled for 5.55 p.m., your return Magical Express pickup will be scheduled between 3:40 p.m. and 4:10 p.m. at your resort. You should plan to be at the pickup location 10-15 minutes before your scheduled pickup time.

Just a bit of info for you....the average time from deplaning to resort checkin has been running about 70 minutes. So, you shouldn't have to wait 'a couple of hours'. Very seldom does it take more than 90 minutes to get to the resort. Just be sure to bring a carryon bag with anything you may need for the first part of your day. It could take your bags awhile (3 hrs or so) to get to you. I always pack a swimsuit, change of clothes, toiletries for each person in their carryon tote.
