How do I post/upload a photo on the DIS?

Hit post reply then in the white box that pops up scroll over to envelop looking yellow bow with a mountain in it. When you hover over the icon it will say "insert image". Once you hit that button another box will open and this is where you will put in the link to that picture on what ever online imagine hosting site you use e.g photobucket, smugmug or flickr

Thanks. I don't have any of those "accounts" yet. Which is the easiest to use?

They are really simple to use, I have used both Photobucket and Flickr with the later one being the one I used to most just because Flickr seems more stable and quicker than Photobucket, from my experiences at least. Pretty much all you do is upload your photo from your computer to whatever site you decide to use and from there pull up the code of that picture and insert into the "insert image" box here. Most of these site do have a free version but usually limit you on how many pictures you can upload along with the size of them.

I loaded some photos onto Flickr, and when I tried to post here all that showed up was the dreaded redX in a box.

From Flickr, you have to choose "Share" and then "Grab the HTML/BB code." Choose BB code. Make sure the photo size selected is the size you want displayed on the forums. Then copy the code. Come back here to the Dis, and use that insert image icon (the mountain peak) to paste your code in there.
