How do I Post to the POTD Thread and Attach a Picture?

Hello all-

Love everyone's POTD pictures and they inspired me to post one... but I can't seem to attach one to my message. I just joined the forum today (although my DW has been a long-time member)- is that why I am not able to attach a photo to my post?

The best way is to join a photo sharing site (Photobucket is one of the most common - and it's totally free). Upload any pictures you want to your photo sharing site. Once your picture(s) are on the photo site, highlight, and then copy the IMG Code option under the picture (on photobucket it's the bottom option), and then simply paste that IMG code to your post here on the DIS. It sounds a bit hard at first, but once you do it once, you will see how easy it really is.

Tried posting a photo using the "Insert Image" command (IMG Code) suggestion you provided, and was unable to, getting the following Error Message:

The following errors occurred when this message was submitted:

1. Could not find phrase 'error_postcount_too_low_post_links'.

Does this mean I have too low a post count to post photos at this point? I tried to link to an image on Smugmug- do I need to use only Photobucket?

Yes, there is a post count limit before you can post photos. I think it is something really low though. I'm can't remember the number offhand, but it's something like 10 posts or so. Once you have enough posts, the error message should go away automatically.

I think you might need a minimum of at least 10 posts, now that you mention it.
If you want just post 5 or 6 times on this thread.
Something like
Post 1 - OK, I will
post 2 - try to get
post 3 - my post count
post 4 - up to the minimum
post 5 - etc...
until you reach 10, and then try to post a picture.

Working on getting up my post count with my fifth post so I can post a picture on the Photog Board...

Make sure that when you copy the IMG Code, that you get all of it. I don't know if this is the problem, but it looks like you're missing the "[" in front of your first IMG. Try it again, and make sure that you get everything. Even one little thing can cause your pictures not to show up.
