Codes are normally sent via mail or email directly to former guests of Walt Disney World resort. That would be your primary method of knowing.
*Some* guests who may not have accurate information on file or who may still have 'old' addresses in the system will not receive the email or mailing. In that case they simply ask when they call the Disney Reservation Center to see if a PIN is attached.
Hope this helps!

I had a maddening thing happen yesterday....
I called to inquire about booking a room for the first of Dec. and, because I've been "educated" to do so by reading the boards, asked if there was a code by my name.
The last three times I called, they said not. Well...yesterday, lo and behold (!), there were TWO.
Unfortunately, the one for "room only" reservations had expired as of March 31! I was sooooo annoyed and asked the CM why I hadn't been notified of this possibility.
He couldn't tell me. I am very good about reading any Disney cards, etc. that are mailed here, and have not received any emails thus far. The one glitch might be this...we had Alltel as our ISP, and it was taken over by Windstream. Well, ever since the changeover when I've called CRO to make reservations, they still have the old email address, even tho I've given them the new one each time. Could that be why I did not receive a card?
Oh, and the other code...was for a package and to be booked and used by early June. No can do this year...
I'm soooo bummed!!!!
