How do I know I have enough booze for Thanksgiving?

I always assume 2 people per bottle of wine- So I might add a bottle of wine- unless you are thinking there will be beer only drinkers.
If you are worried buy another case of beer- it won't go to waste.

I think you're good, but if you added more you could probably just save it for Christmas/New Years. I always keep some beer/wine in a spare fridge in the garage.

If your get togethers are like ours, they are all day affairs. Typically the beer drinkers don't drink wine, the wine drinkers don't drink beer so I would say that you are just fine. Having 4 drinks over 10-12 hours is not a big deal.

If you want to try a GOOD white that is relatively new, look for New Age in the imported wine section. It is from Argentina. If your wine drinkers like Rieslings, they will love this one.

You have enough alcohol . Nine adults: a case and half of beer, 5 bottles of wine and punch. Thats approx. four beers and a half bottle of wine per adult, not including the punch.

I hope you have designated drivers.

Do guests typically keep drinking until all the booze is gone? Most people I know have extra wine and beer in their homes at all times. I assume the guests consuming the alcohol are adults (who won't be mixing punch/beer/wine). I don't think I've ever been at a gathering where the alcohol ran out, and I've never been at a gathering where designated drivers were needed. :confused3

I would get another case of beer, if only to expand on your selection.

Maybe a bottle of pinot noir?

Otherwise you should be fine. If you have any left, carry it over to Christmas. This is also a big visiting time, so it would be nice to have some spirits on hand for any surprise visitors.

So all your guests will leave their vehicles at your house to be driven home? really? Dont believe it for a minute that anyone will take up that offer-nor that it will be extended.

Sorry-I really think you have waaayyy too much alcohol
Including the Punch and after dinnner alcohol. It blows my mind:scared1:

It's the holidays. More than likely, they aren't going to drink every drop on Thanksgiving Day. There will be some left over for Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Year's.

I know that I drink 3-4 drinks during our holidays. Of course, we get there early in the day and stay until 9pm or so. Some of us have alcoholic drinks, some don't.

Really:eek: You would die if you came to my house:rotfl:

We have a fully stocked bar with mixers, different choices of gins and vodkas, bourbons, schnapps, etc., and a large makeshift wine cellar.

And I am very proud of our beer selection;)
We like to entertain. We don't drink until it is gone, but we like to have a nice selection.

If it were me, I'd buy another bottle or two of wine. Of course, I'm having my mom and her husband and my dad and his girlfriend here for Thanksgiving, and there is not enough alcohol in the world to get me through this one!!:rotfl2:

:lmao::lmao:

Yes, I have some family members that necessitate making an extra trip to the ABC store too!!

Hence my question, Is it family or friends?

You need a lot more alcohol for an all day family get together than friends:lmao:

I agree with golfgal, I know that in my family there are wine drinkers, beer drinkers and hard liquor drinkers. Everyone usually sticks to the one type. I don't really drink on holidays b/c I'm mostly a beer drinker and it doesn't go that well with turkey:rotfl2: I think you will be ok but maybe another bottle of wine.

She wouldn't have wanted to come around my DH's family either. For the longest time for the holidays at this cousins house, like you they had a fully stocked bar - four 4ft long shelves behind the bar loaded. Mixers of every kind. 3 blenders, a small ice machine, and a fridge with the beer tap in the door that was attached to a fresh full keg every holiday. There wasn't a single persons drinking taste that they didn't have covered.

And when you got together, it was an all day thing. Get down there around 9, watch the Macy's parade. Play some flag football - drinking a few beers. Snack on apps - drinking a beer or mixed drink. Shoot so pool or play cards - drinking a beer. Watch football on TV - drink a beer. Dinner around 5. Back down stairs by 7 to play cards, play pool, chit-chat and drink. Some of us until the wee hours of the morning.

That is just a typical Thanksgiving. July 4th, Labor day, New Years Eve/Day, Superbowl Sunday and Memorial day - the place to be, was always the cousins house.

This is exactly it here also~ it's a full day w tons of food and activities; football; cooking etc. It's not like everyone is just concentrating on getting bombed.
Glad to hear we're not the only ones who do it this way~ It's the Holidays ;)

I stopped at the liquor store and picked up 3 bottles of wine and a bottle of Vodka. The wine is for me for Thanksgiving (well, I know my SIL and MIL will have some too) and the vodka is for my Bloody Mary's that I enjoy in the evenings.

Poly-New Age had one that looks like a White Zin too. I picked up a bottle, haven't tried it yet though. I might have a glass tonight and I'll let you know if that is good too.

This is what the bottle looks like:

Please let me know~ I love to try new wines :)

I am seriously stressing if I have enough alcohol for my Turkey day party~

I am making a southern comfort punch for while appetizers are out; and I have a case and a half of beer for the guys for football and apps.

During dinner I have 5 bottles of wine~ not the lg bottles; the regular size~ 3 white~reisling and 2 beaujolais? sp?

Then I have have a few cordials for desert time w coffee.

Oh~ I am serving for 12 and 3 are kids.

Thanks in advance! ;)

WOW. I would say you have more than enough. What time should DW and I show up for dinner? Make that 14 adults. :lmao:
