How do I know 'fair' trade value?

I don't do much trading, so I really don't know the trade 'value' of items. Items I'm looking for are:

Minnie Princess Hat
Dreams Logo Pin
Dreams Fairy Pin

I have these for trade:

Firewalls
Birdhats
Other Pirate Q
Theatre
Gold Ears
etc...

But since I don't know how to value the items I don't know what to offer. Can anyone give me some general ideas on what to expect for the items I have/want?

- Research by looking at past trade threads. Read read read
- Hang in trade rooms (and DON'T actually trade) to see what offers you get and what others ask.
- Find other friends who trade a lot whose input you can trust.
