How do I hook up tv/cablebox/vcr?

For the life of me I can't remember what goes where.

The cables are the same, regardless of which one you use and what direction you plug the cables into.

From the TV to the VCR, you want to plug the cable from the "IN" of the TV to the "OUT" of the vcr.

From the Cable Box, you want to plug the cable from the "OUT" of the cable box to the "IN" of the TV

From the Cable plug in the wall (if you have one), plug in the cable fromt he wall to the "IN" on the cable box.

If you have any questions, let me know

Oh yeah, if you're dealing with audio/video cords (the red/yellow/white cord), plug the cord from the TV (IN) to the VCR (OUT) while matching the colors.

does this work for a dvd too, just bought one but could not get it to work early this evening . so got frustrated and put it back in the box.

Yep, pretend the dvd is the vcr. TV (IN) to the dvd (OUT) (or, through the workingal's solution)

Hopefully you have 2 IN plugs on your tv so you can plug both the DVD and VCR into the tv. If not, there are adapters you can buy that'll split the cable in 2.

the setup on mine is:

wall to cable box to VCR to TV hooked up with regular rf cable, then the DVD hooks to the VCR using the RCA cables (red, white, yellow).

When I want to watch DVD, I turn on the DVD and the VCR. Turn the VCR channel to LINE 2 (where I plugged it in) and watch the DVD thru the VCR to the TV.

I'm in the process of adding another layer to this whole setup by adding a PVR/DVR/Tivo unit that I'm building to the combo. We'll see how that works.
