HI, I am staying off site at my timeshare , Westgate Lakes, 10,000 Turkey Lakes Road.

How would I get to The Fort Wildnerness Resort to see Mickeys Backyard BBQ??

I got crazy lost last time and never made it.. Do I drive to the transportation Center and take a bus? I need easy, E-Z directions.
thanks,

Dee

When you get to the Parks stay on the right side and head for MK you will see signs that will tell you to exit to your right just past the parking for MK...if you call 407 wdw play a cast memeber can connect you directly to the Wilderness Office and they will give you excellent directions...its not hard to find really. If you plan to be in MK on the day of your visit to Fort Wilderness its even easier...just take a ferry over to Fort WIlderness adn its a brief walk from the ferry boats and a wonderful ride!!!

If you go in the entrance by Downtown Disney, follow the signs to Port Orleans... continues past Port Orleans Riverside to a traffic light and make a left. About 1/2 mile or so on the right is the entrance to FW visitor parking. From there it is a short bus ride to the BBQ.

If you want to go by street names from Downtown Disney...

go west on E Buena Vista Dr, make a right on Bonnet Creek Pkwy, make a left on Vista Blvd, about 1/2 mile or so on the right is the entrance to FW visitor parking. From there it is a short bus ride to the BBQ.

Is the parking free at the guest parking? How long can you have your car there? I doubt like all night but if you leave your car there in the morning and go back to it at like 11 at night will it still be there or will it be towed?

As the previous poster suggested, the easiest is to be at MK during the day. You would then take a boat to FW (stops at WL first). Walk up from the dock and follow the signs.

If you are not going to MK that day-
Get on the road to MK.
As you come to the toll plaza, stay to your RIGHT. You will see (painted on the road) lanes for resort guests (lanes 2 and 3 from the right ). The rightmost lane is for busses. Go in the lanes for resort guests. Tell the CM that you have ADRs for FW. He will give you directions (listed below)

1.after the toll booth, take the right lane exit (follow the busses).
2.take the first right (there will be signs for FW)
3.drive about a half mile You will see signs for FW check in (DO NOT TAKE THAT ENTRANCE)
4.take the next entrance (on your left) into FW (there will be a sign saying HDDR parking). you can park anywhere in that lot.
5.walk to the bus depot.
6.get on any bus saying settlement
7.get off the bus at the Settlement and follow signs to the BBQ.

On the way back, you look for busses saying Outpost (That is where you parked your car)

wow, those sound like easy directions, thanks so much to all of you! I think I will go from MK, that way I will not get lost. but, got a new question, if I do go from MK and take the ferry over. I would then take the ferry back to MK< would the monorail still be running, do I need the monorail to get to the car?
thanks,

If the boat to MK is still running, the monorail will still be running.

You could also take the boat to CR and then the monorail to the TTC.

If MK is closed, there will be a bus that will take you to the TTC (via WL).

You are going to be better off driving to the Fort Wilderness Campground entrance (When you get to Ft Wilderness, use the second entrance, the first entrance is for guest checking in to the Campground). Once you have park your car in the Fort Wilderness Parking Lot, walk over and catch one of the Ft Wilderness Bus Shuttles (Best route to take is the Orange or Yellow Routes). You will want to exit the bus at the Settlement Bus Stop then walk past Pioneer Hall and go near the old Defunct River County Entrance.. The Backyard BBQ is held in the Picnic/Dinning area of River County even though River County has been closed for Years now. :surfweb:
