How do I get people to pick up after their dogs??

I am so sick of the people in my neighborhood who walk their dogs and proceed to let them poop all over my yard. I am tempted to baggie it up and put it on their doorsteps.....

If I knew who was doing it I would just return it with a smile and say they dropped something in my yard and I didn;t think they noticed and hand it to them.

At our last house, we had a neighbor who's dogs would poop in our yard. I wanted to go over to their house and dump my cat box on their front porch in return, but DH wouldn't let me. :p

If you see them actually doing it, I would make a point of walking outside right then and looking at them. Hand them a bag if you see they don't have one.QUOTE]

I did just what SleepyMom suggested. The guy was so embarrassed he never walked down my end of the street again. :yay:

That's too funny!! Good for you! :rotfl2:

We had a problem like this in our old neighborhood. This lady had a huge fenced in year but would walk her two large dogs every morning. They made my front yard the spot to "go". Well I watched her an knew what time she came through. One morning I spied her letting her dogs have at it and I walked out and said "Please don't let your dogs poop in my yard. I do not appreciate it". Well she said she was sorry and went and got a scooper and cleaned it up. From that morning on she never walked them near my yard again. I'm sure she just went a different direction and some other yard was getting it. I don't put up with that and have no qualms of telling someone to knock something off that is doing something to me or my property.

get you a bag of rabbit chaser, it will keep dogs off the lawn also. It will not hurt them but they can not deal with the smell of the stuff. After a few times they would not want to use your lawn any more. This way you could avoid dealing directly with a person who does not care any way.

That's the problem, both my husband and I have asked repeatedly - esp this one woman. And we were nice, calm etc and now it seems she purposely does it. Do you know what I mean? And this is a grown woman probably in her 40's or 50's.

I don't want my girls and I to have to worry abour running around our own yard worrying about whether we are going to step in poop!

Do you have an ordinance there? Some towns do.. Perhaps you could contact someone at the town offices to find out..

When my husband was 15, a new neighbor moved in down the block and she let her Great Dane poop in his family's yard. His father spoke to her nicely about it, and she just played dumb. This went on, and on. One of his sisters stepped in some, and that was enough for my husband. He scooped some up, marched it over to her house, waved at the neighbor in her window, and threw it at the door! Now, I am not advocating this, but I will say, that was the last time that dog ever pooped in his family's yard!

i say be like a monkey and throw the poo at the person!!!

no..but seriously...type up an offical looking letter..send it to the person...and if you really want to be mean..but a nice bag of the dog's poo on her door step!

As they leave your yard call them back and tell them they forgot something.

Or

Box it up and mail it to them...at work.

Or

Save it up and give it to them as a Birthday gift.
