I am wanting to have some procedures done and need to know how to research on the ones in my area.i dont care to have to go somewhere else to have it done i just want the best.

So if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it.

i think the first place to start is with your own physician. plastic surgeons do not just do cosmetic surgery but reconstructive surgery as well. physicians who have referred post mastectomy pts for reconstruction, sccident victims for reconstruction, know who does a good job. if you are near a univerisit that has a medical school, contact them and see who is the head of the cranial facial team. they often deal with facail deformities, cleft lip and palate and have excellent skills in addition to being on the teaching services.

As your family DR. to recommend one. Thats how I found mine, and I just adore him.

Thanks all,I am in particularly looking at Tummy tuck.I dont think i am interested in a face lift but maybe some kind of peel or something.

Anyone with any experience with either of those feel free to post about your experience.

Thanks

Don't know where in NC you are but my son has a wonderful plastic surgeon at Duke. DS was born with cleft lip and palate but thank to this Dr you would hardly know it, in fact most people don't know if I don't tell them. If you want the name PM and I give it too you. We still drive out once a year for checks with the "cleft palate team" at Duke just to keep an eye on things, like the growth or lack there of for the scar tissue) as he grows.

ds #4 also. he had a large cleft palsle, not lip. i would definately use ds's surgeon for any work i wanted done as well. ds is almost 19 now. nobody would ever know by talking to him or seeing him.

 Hi!! Nice to meet another mom who has been there/done that with the cleft, I have not meet any others except at Duke.

Where's ChrisnSteph when you need her? She had a tummy tuck pretty recently. Maybe you could try sending her a PM.

I had breast augmentation and it was a total success. No problems, best money I ever spent. I'm a much happier person with good self-esteem now. Plastic surgery isn't for everyone, but generally, you KNOW when it's right for you.

Look for the little circle logo for the American Plastic Surgery Association when searching for a doctor. That's a good sign they're legit. :)
