My wife and I have a trip planned to DLR in October of 2009. My Wife has been a Big Sister with the Big Brother/Big sister organization for over 20 years, and we are taking her little sister with us to DLR. Her mom has always dreamed of taking her but is in the final stages of cancer and doesn't have much time to live. The little girl is native american and we asked her "If you were to pick one Disney character to meet, who would it be?" She told us she wants to meet Pochahontas. I don't recall ever seeing her at DLR. We tried writing to Customer Relations at DLR but its been 2 months and we still haven't heard anything from them. We REALLY want this trip to be EXTRA special for her and want to do whatever possible to make it that way! We don't want just a phone call and I think I can recall seeing her in a parade, so I think they do have someone that does the character but we want her to see her and get an autograph or something. We asked our travel agent and she said she thought Disney would respond but it hasn't happened. Does anyone have any suggestions?

If she's around you can find her in frontierland/Adventureland........but I heard a rumor that they removed her from the parks for being too "sexy"- same as Jack Sparrow.

I'd ask a CM when u get tot he parks and they will know for sure.

We have seen her at PFF twice so you might luck out there. I would try emailing again to confirm she's still part of PFF or see if she can be seen anywhere else, as I've always heard back within 2-3 days from Disney via email.

It would also be worth a stop by City Hall when you get there to see if they can provide you any more specific information, as I've heard they have the master list of who will be where at what time for that day.

we were there in october of 07 ( i know tooo long ) and we saw her in the backlot at dca!!!

but I heard a rumor that they removed her from the parks for being too "sexy"- same as Jack Sparrow.

I think that rumor was about Esmeralda from Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I've seen Pocahontas leaving the Princess Fantasy Faire once last fall. The only other time I saw her out in the parks was during Mickey's TOT party in DCA. There were two princess photo stops. Pocahontas and Belle were at the one near the Hyperion theatre, they were switching with Snow White and Sleeping Beauty.

We have seen Pocohontas at Ariel's Grotto in DCA, but only once out of the probably 10 times we've been there. Unfortunately they don't have an appearance list at AG so there's no way to tell. You can always try asking there, but I'd highly suggest asking at City Hall in DL when you get in, they have a list of characters and appearances daily so they should be able to help you.

I know many here reported good experience with City Hall about character appearances. Unfortunately I had two rather bad ones.

During our last trip I tried to find out twice when Chip & Dale would be out, and they said they could not tell me. They kept trying to hand over the map with the appearance times on Main Street and the character Meet and Greets like Pixie Hollow to me. :confused3

That's too bad, I've never had them to do that to me. But I guess we are asking after regularly scheduled characters so maybe that's why?

I have no idea.

When I had had the first encounter I was thinking "okay, maybe he was new."

But when it happened the second time I specifically said that several online sites said they could look character appearances up at City Hall, and the look I got was very much "deer in headlights." I was specifically told they could not do that. :confused3

I know that there have been times when Chip and Dale do a little show over by the Fire Department right below Walt's apartment and that may have been what they were trying to tell you. And they could have also completely spaced it.

I really don't think they were trying to point me to the show, my question was very specific and so was the reply.

I specifically said I was looking for Chip & Dale and read online they could look up character appearances throughout the day. The reply was that they had no way to tell me when, where or if a character would be out during the day.

Then they told me "any character appearances were on the schedule". This supposedly was everything they could tell me. Yeah, "Characters out on Town Square thoughout the day" immensely helps when looking for a special character. ;)

But yes, we did see that show a bit a couple of days later. I can't remember if it was on the schedule though. I'm leaning towards no because we bumped into the performance by accident.

I chalked it up as completely spaced out moment. They really acted like no one had ever asked that question before. We did find Chip & Dale eventually on our own the next day, so all was well with the world anyway. ;)

It was just one of these weird moments that happen sometimes. :confused3

I was tempted to go back and try with a more obscure character than Chip & Dale just to check if I was going completely crazy, but I never got the chance to do that.

Sorry to hear about the problems you had with city hall. They have always been very helpful for me. I know that you are correct though about the character schedule. The info booths and city hall, as well as most cast members, can tell you where characters are to be out. Sometimes it is a little off that due to unforseen circumstances, but they have a book that is available to them that tells. I had a friend that we went to the park with one time and we were getting ready to leave. She went over to an information booth and mentioned that we were leaving and her daughter was really disappointed because she had not seen a particular character. The cast member excused herself for a moment to talk on the radio and came back with info. The cast member told us to go use the restrooms or something for a couple minutes and when we came back the character was waiting for us. As for chip and Dale, they are at almost every character meal, all at the same time, and they pop up various places from time to time.

I am looking for pochahontas because, other than a parade, I don't recall ever seeing her in the park for like pix or autographs. I think I am going to try calling guest relations at city hall today, to see if they even got our letter. If anyone has any other ideas, PLEASE post them! Thanks!!!

No, that CM was incorrect....I've done this many times myself, you just ask the CM if you can see if xxx character is appearing and where & when you might find them, the CM checks a list and says "oh you can find Alice playing musical chairs with the Mad Hatter in Coke Corner at 2 pm" etc etc. Or they will say "I'm sorry, I don't see that character on the list for today, you can try back tomorrow". That's so weird......

Like I said, if it hadn't happened twice I would have chalked it up as a rookie mistake of a newbie cast member. But that happened with two different CMs (a lady and a gentleman), two different days, even at different times. :confused3

I even would have understood a reply like "Chip and Dale pop up all over the place." But they were very adamant they could not give me any info about character appearances at all.

I know Chip & Dale are not really rare to find, but they had escaped us for a couple of days. My room mate loves them and was getting a bit desperate. After it was posted here so many times about City Hall I thought I'd try. I hate to see her sad. She doesn't care about many characters.

Maybe I should really ask for someone more rare next time, like a prince or Maleficent.

I wanted to thank EVERYONE for your suggestions. I heard from City Hall at DLR today and they are doing some stuff for us. They said that Pochahontas is a character that does not come out and do meet and greets but they are doing some other stuff for us they should satisfy the situation. DISNEY is the GREATEST!!!!!! Again THANKS!!!

I will post info after we have been there in October and let anyone interested know what happened and how stuff goes. We are leaving AZ at 3am on the 11th of October and will come back late on the 15th. We are going to character breakfasts all 4 mornings and goofys kitchen chacter dinner all 4 nights, plus we are throwing in a princess lunch at Ariel's Grotto. We are not planning on doing Mickey's ToT but we have alot of other stuff happening. Maybe we will see some of you there!

Hooray doggie, I'm so glad you finally heard back from them! I know Kitty was getting concerned.
