How do I fax a Room Request and when?

I have tried repeatedly to do online check-in over the past week. No matter what, it doesn't allow me to do so and basically says "try again later." I'm fairly certain it's because my ressie is linked. It's one week, but consists of 4 nights, and then 1 night, and then one night. (Really amazed that in 2010 they are unable to combine these...anyhoo...)
So I check in at the desk this Wednesday. I'm fearful that without my early check-in I won't get my "request". So I'd like to fax my request early. Should I do it tomorrow (Mon) for a Wed check-in? Or should I wait for Tues? Which is better, and do I just fax it to resort itself SSR? Or to front desk manager? or 'reservations" or what?

Any help is appreciated. Also, any idea how to word the request to increase my chance of getting fulfilled. (I'm requesting "Grandstand" - but REALLY want any building within 8300 - 8500.) Which should I ask for?

DVC has stated that faxed requests won't be honored. I would just call MS and have your request added to your reservation (if you have not already made a request).

As Doc stated DVC resorts do not accept faxes for requests. Call Member Service and have them note on your reservation your request. That is the best you can do.

I would simply make the Grandstand request. Trying to ask for a specific building is really limiting your chances.

Requests are never a guarantee and they can only do so much to fill them as they can't move guests out if those areas are already taken.

My only request would be to be allowed to stay in the same room and not have to move since you have multiple reservations.

In addition to the above, the online check-in doesn't have a place for those kinds of requests - what floor, area, view, etc.

But I agree - just call MS and tell them to add it - I just make any request like that when I'm booking my reservation.

FWIW, we never do check-in on-line since it's started and I have always gotten my requests.

I'll throw in my anectodal info. I made 2 room requests for our recent AKV stay. I made the requests through MS when I booked the room, 5 months in advance. Then, I had to update the requests when our waitlist came through a month before the trip. Again, I called MS and updated my requests ( a Sunset savannah view, upper level). I did online check in and both requests were granted.

I've heard/read here and other places that the faxes never get read and calling the resort directly is pointless.

With DVC, it's a little stronger. DVC says No faxes will be accepted. Period.
