Someone has given me a DVD of me dancing, made from a digital camera. I would like to make copies, but I'm having trouble figuring it out. I've made copies of CDs before, so I think it might be similar. I can play the DVD on my computer, and I think I perhaps I should make a file or somehow put this DVD on my computer and then try to copy it but :confused3. I have a windows movie maker on my computer. Is this what I use? Anyhelp you can give would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a DVD burner on your computer it should be just like burning a CD except you use a blank DVD. Just open the DVD and copy the files to a new disc.

Interesting. I was trying to do this as well. I have a DVD burner on my computer. I put a blank DVD disk in the burner and the DVD in the other and it showed a screen saying I needed some sort of software?????

Do I really need to purchase software to make it work?

Thanks Dave. I will try it out this afternoon. I am trying to copy a work lecture that was put on to DVD so I can have a copy available.

It is not like copying a CD; you can't just copy the files.

If you have commercial software (Nero, Roxio, etc), it should have an option to copy a DVD. Since yours is not likely to be copy protected, there should be no problem.

If you don't have anything, I'd recommend going with a freeware option. Imgburn (I think it's www.imgburn.com but if not, just Google it) is very good and will do it - it's mainly for copying and creating/burning disc images. CDBurnerXP is more comparable to a Nero/Roxio software, and I believe it had a copy DVD function as well.

Groucho is right, it is not just copying the cd and I forgot about nero or roxio both very good programs and simple to learn.

Of course, they can't put the DVDShrink download on the actual site for legal reasons. But if should be easy enough to find on google. It is pretty easy to use, but still requires a burning program (like nero) which would have it's own dvd copy functionality anyways.
