How do I clean a water mark on fabric........

........by hand, without causing the whole area to look different? I bought an Amish type doll today at a yard sale, and she has one mark on her face, just like a raindrop........with the brown edges. But since the whole face is a different color now than it was when it was made (I'm sure it's faded), I am not sure how to clean the mark off without making a "circle of clean" that will still mess up the overall look.
