For past brides, what steps did you take to change your name after the wedding? I am not even sure where to start... TIA!!

It is sooooo easy..seriously.....First go to DMV and get your new license, then go to Social Security and get your new card...I waited like ten minuted,so easy..go to the website and print out the application fill it out and bring it with you.All you need to bring is your birth cetificate and ID to SS.

Then call your Credit cards.

I still have to change my passport but I'm not leaving the country anytime soon so that can wait.

Thanks Lynn, I was wondering that too. My mom wants me to keep my name, because my DF name is so hard to spell. :) To long I guess, Cecchetti. LOL

:rotfl: My DFs last name is Dube -- you know, the slang for a joint?? Do I really want that to be my last name too?? :confused3 :rotfl:

Haha - my last name will RHYME with my first name. I'll practically be a Dr. Seuss character! LOL. So to ease the rhyming I may just use my middle name with everything - it's okay b/c I love my middle name!

I just wanted to throw this out there - if you're going on a honeymoon or a trip of any sort soon after your wedding wait to change your name. My best friend and her husband went on their honeymoon cruise 2 months after they got married and she used her maiden name for everything in case the changes didn't go through (ie: passport) in time. Good luck!

Your credit card company should not charge you to change your name. It is a quick change in their system and then really easy to force emboss a card. The only charge you may incur is if you ask them to rush the plastic.

The hardest place I have had to change my name is on my auto insurance. They want the hubbie's info to do that and I told them no. That may be with just my insurance company.

Wow! I'm not too happy about their now being a Z in my last name. I mean- it's really a hard letter to get used to signing. But- at least no rhyming or drug references!
