How do I become a DVC member?

Hi, new to the DVC forum, and I am interested in becoming a member, specifically for the GCH villas. Can anyone provide some insite on how I become a member? What is the average cost for a first time member? Do I choose my "year" or do they? If I become a member, at say, GCH, can I still go to other places like in FL or whatever??

Expect new buy-in direct from Disney to be in the area of $16k based on 160-pt minimum at $104 per point plus closing costs. Not sure if/what discounts will be offered when GCV starts selling. You could purchase Saratoga Springs or Animal Kingdom now for $94/point using widely advertised $10pp discount.

To buy into DVC you must purchase a minimum contract of 160 points. The current price per point is 104 with specific incentives in place for each of the new locations being sold. Unfortunately, California is not being sold yet. There have been some rumors that it would go on sale to current members who purchased their points at DisneyLand first, then be opened up to other members, and then to the public. If that happens, I would think it would be awhile before the public gets a shot at GCV points. There has been no announcement of when it will start selling, and no official announcement of how the sales will be offered, so no one really knows for sure right now.

I suggest you read as much as you can here on the 4 DVC boards and especially read the stickys. That will help you form questions that we can all answer for you here.
