How do get sand out of swimsuits?

My daughter has sand grains on the swimsuit that I can't get out. I put it in the washer on handwash and even tried rinsing it on my own, but they won't come out. Any suggestions? It looks bad on the white parts of the suit- looks dirty.

Where is the sand from? When I lived in NJ, the sand would often leave a "dirt" residue on my swimsuits, reguardless of how many times I washed it. I think the coarser sand just beats up the fabric. On the contrary, down here... the sand starts to turn the whites into pink because of the coral offshore...

Okay, I know brushing powder over sandy skin will remove the sand easily. MAYBE rub baby powder into the fabric and see if the sand comes out?

My daughters have the same problem with their swim suits. I tried both ways and haven't been able to get it out. I am also curious about how to get it out.:laundy:

The sand is from Lake Erie, so it is course and dirty. I think we had this problem a few years ago and some of it did come off when the girls went into a pool a few times. I will try anything.

The chlorine in the pool bleaches the fabric. That probably does help a lot. Time for a pool party! :thumbsup2
