How do DVC ids work?

I recently purchased a new resale contract which has a different use year than contracts that we already have. I was wondering if all of you experts out there could enlighten me on how the various DVC ids are related and what they represent. I apologize if these questions have been asked before...

I've read previously that different use years can't be combined. Does this mean that I will receive a new membership ID or a new DVC ID (or both) for our new contract?

What is the membership ID used for and what is the DVC ID used for?

Am I able to associate more than one membership ID with my existing Disney login or do I need a different login for my new different use year contract?

As you might imagine, I'm eagerly awaiting the transfer of our new contract and I've been periodically calling Membership Accounting to check if the transfer has completed. Is that the right place to call? The only number I have is the contract number of the seller, is Accounting able to see the transfer status from just this number?

Thanks in advance!

You will have a separate DVC membership with a second member ID. You will receive separate mailings and statements.

If the deeds are titled exactly the same way and if DVC knows that you are an existing member, you will have one login with a pull down for the different UY's.

I they aren't titled the same, DVC can't let different owners share one login so you will have separate login for each account.
