How do developers points work

We are planning to buy in the next few weeks with the current promotion, but now I can't remember what the details are on the developer's points. How long do I have to use them? Can I combine them with my regular points for one big reservation? Any restrictions? Thanks for helping.

You have to use them withing 12 months and you can not book them but 7 months out. I am sure that you can combine them with your regular points to make the ressie.

You can combine them with regular vacation points.
When you call to book using Developer Points make sure you tell them you want to use your Developer Points.
We got 320 in October and have spent them all! (Trip in October, Trip in March and June trip to Italy!)

Yes, make sure you stress to them that you want to use the developer points FIRST, since they expire in 12 months and you can't bank them -- "Use Them or Lose Them." And as someone said, you can only make a ressie with developer points in the 7 month window, even at your home resort. Other than that, you can combine them with your purchased points for one big ressie, or use them separately.

Make sure when you use your developer points you ask for a confirmation number and even a confirmation e-mail because developer points DO NOT show up on your online user account, and neither do your reservations made with developer points. Those reservations are walked through the system by hand, and it sometimes takes a really long time to get a confirmation letter.

Can you use Developer Points for cruise? For example we are seriously thinking about adding on (own at VWL) for AKV to get this year, next year and developer points to apply towards our already booked cruise this December (NYE cruise). While no I don't agree its a great use of points for this time of year (peak season) if we are having to pay 7000+ for the cruise we might as well put it towards purchasing more points.
