How do AP holders use Fastpass?

I was just thinking about this last night as I was trying to fall asleep. . .regular ticket holders simply insert their ticket into the FP machine. . .so how does an AP holder use FastPass? Do they insert their AP card into the machine or are they given a ticket when they enter the park? I am curious because my best friend and I are buying Annual Passes for the first time for 2007.

Your AP is a regular ticket which gets inserted into the FP machine just like all the others.
