How do Airtran seat assignments work?

We'll have no trouble checking in for our Airtran flights down to Orlando next January, but we'll be on the Disney Magic and I don't know if we'll be able to check in for the flight home while on board. If it were just DH and me, I wouldn't worry, but it'll be DH, me, a 3 year old, a 5 year old, and an 80 year old in a wheel chair. Any suggestions? I looked at the website checkinsooner.com, but it doesn't seem like they work with Airtran. Practically everybody we know is on this trip (there are 40 of us going) so there probably isn't anybody who can check in for us. Any help is appreciated!

Can you pay whatever the extra cost is to preselect your seats, or did you have to do that at the time of purchase?

Also, DISers on the Cruise board would be more likely to have the answer to this question - they'd know if you can check in for flights from the ship, and how much the ship charges for Internet use.

Never been on the cruise, but at the resorts I've always had the concierge desk help us select the seats 24 hours in advance. This has always worked out fine and the concierge had no qualms helping out. Hope this helps.

I run the site checkinsooner and I certainly add Airtran - if there is a market for it. I am not Airtran savvy - do they do the same kind of boarding as Southwest? How would you like to see a site like checkinsooner work with Airtran?

DCL ships have internet cafe complete w/printer if you like (didn't get the bucket of min. not too pricey) worked fine for us.

think next time we'll just check in while on board & print out boarding passes @ airport.
