How Difficult Is Not Going Solo . . .

I just got back from a trip with my sister and, though we had a lot of fun, we also got on each other's nerves. I find it so much easier to go solo. I can do everything I want, eat everywhere I want, and not deal with "I don't know. What do you want to do?".

I know exactly how that feels!...But I've not yet gone solo (will be in 10 days though), so for now I can't make the comparison.

yes totally agree about the "what you wannado and where you wanna go" scenario.... but after meeting peeps here on this board.. I do go solo, leave PA solo but have friends to meet by the time I get to WDW... its refreshing and more luxuriosly convenient time wise... if you want company you have friends to track down if you want alone time well you just tell them you wont be around that time... none of my "blood" family understand my obsession for Disney but I did find family here who shares the same passion :)

Oh, we're all Disney fans. Eight of the twelve of us have Premier passports! However, my sister lives near Disneyland and only gets to WDW once a year, so I try to let her take the lead on what we're going to do and what we're going to eat, because I come here several times a year.

I know exactly what you mean. I usually go Solo every where I travel. I took my mom once and now she wants to hijack all my trips. Going so far as to so, you can't go with your solo friends in September I called dibs.

All I can think is, you now know how to get there and how things work, go whenever you want. She just wants to go with me because I will pay for some of her stuff.

I know what you mean. DH isn't nearly as big a Disney nut as me-I call him "Disney tolerant". So I find myself kind of feeling responsible for hoping he has a good time, like "Where do you want to eat?" On many trips, he stays with me for a certain number of days, then I stay on solo for several days after he goes home. Much as I love his company, I do feel a little relief, because I know I can enjoy just being there.

I'm two weeks and two days from going with my sister! I don't want to hear this! I know the hardest part for us is knowing when the other is just trying to be nice or if they really do want to wait for a particular ride. And then there are the arguements if an attraction or meal isn't as good as one of us proclaimed it would be. We argue a lot. Oh well. Is the saying, "what doesn't kill each other only makes us stronger?":)

Easy...I just tell people what to do and when. ;)

I've not done an official solo, but I did do a grown-up girls only. I was usually the only one up and about early in the morning, and I did one day on my own. It was actually really nice!! I did miss having the kids with me, though. Things go quicker when you're solo, but I really love traveling with a group.

I prefer not to go solo, but I do like having a little bit of solo time during the trip, even if it's just a couple of hours. I am a huge CoP fan and I don't like forcing other people to ride it with me more than once. Plus sometimes I like just wandering around by myself, doing favorites a few times in a row or sitting in a certain area and just soaking up the atmosphere (ex: fountain of nations in Epcot) without feeling like the other person/people are bored.

I love CoP, too, and was so glad when my nieces fell in love with it, too. They're only 4 and 6, but have been known to burst into "Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" at random moments. I like traveling with people who don't mind being on their own for a while, too, but people like that are not easy to find.

My nieces like it also, but I think they only like it in a "once per trip" kind of way. I feel sorry for whoever comes with me, because I ride it every few hours I'm in MK. It's sort of a combo of: it reminds me of Walt/we don't have it in DL/it may close for good one day that makes me want to ride it all the time. But I never get sick of it! And there are some rides at WDW I grew tired of after riding them once. :p

Didn't you split from your sis when she was getting on your nerves? That's usually the best way to fix the problem! :thumbsup2

They've only been to MK once, so I don't know if they would get sick of it. We're a DL family. Our favorite ride is it's a small world.

Yes, we split up and I was gone so long, I think she started to worry that I wasn't coming back!

I've taken the Monsters three or four times, and my mother came with us two of those times. The rest of my trips have been solo. I've learned that MK is no fun at all without my kids, but I enjoy Epcot so much more on my own. I've become spoiled by the solo trips, and admit to being quite impatient with my family's pace and bickering the last time we all went. Luckily, I have a solo "recharging" coming up soon - then, the next time we all go, I'll be more happy to share!

I enjoy visiting WDW both solo and with my BFF. :) We've been best friends since age 7--or "sisters by choice," as we also say! *LOL*

They are completely different experiences. One is all about me--and meeting up with friends from The Dis and other boards--while the other requires a bit of accommodation for the likes and dislikes of the other person.

Since we live in different states, sometimes we don't see one another for two or three years, depending on family needs, work and finances. Our travels include a lot of chatting and sharing things that slipped by in the interim, left out of phone calls, emails and greeting cards. We always have something to talk about! *LOL*

We do have a few simple rules. We're always free to do things separately (she loves to shop, I tolerate it for a while). If one person doesn't feel well or is tired and wants to stay in the room, the other person is not obligated to do the same. We take turns paying for meals/snacks when we're together. Not really a rule, just something that has developed from knowing one another for so long! :)

Have a feeling we're going to have to start planning--very general planning--our next WDW visit soon. Possibly December 2012 or 2013. Hoping for 2012, but we'll see!
